Welcome @atmiller14

Idk if you are behind the paywall or not, but you are now the resident MN Contingent Weather man, adjust your flair accordingly.

What’s your least favorite course in MN?

My wife shoots weddings. This summer she has a wedding up by Hibbing and you best believe I am tagging along to get in 36 at the Quarry. This poll has only made me want to play it more

If he says Superior National I’m cancelling the NSS and everyone will be taking a required field trip.

Inside tip for any giants ridge trips. Use the greengateguesthouses.com. Villas. Support a local family, Great ppl run it, updated accommodations and usually cheaper than using the villas website.

Thanks, @Battisstatus. Testing the waters, but I’m likely signing up the Nest. I’m simultaneously negotiating the purchase of new irons with my Treasury Secretary. Gotta play this just right. I’m happy to be your resident meteorologist guy.

Least favorite course in Minnesota (from someone who hasn’t enjoyed its bounty nearly enough): Easy target, but Hiawatha. It was never feasible—never stood a chance. Favorites are: Royal, Keller, St. Clair Golf Club, Deacon’s, Dutch Legacy, Wild Marsh.

And look, I’m reluctant to believe the forecast, but if we’re looking at that old “Get a few rounds in before St. Patrick’s Day, then wait for a late March/early April blizzard to burn off,” I AM ALL THE WAY IN. Your boy can only watch so many episodes of Tourist Sauce and Strapped to get locked in.

Ok, after a little bit of a delay (didn’t feel like doing it after hearing the Tiger news) we have our finalists, and they show how good the northern region of the state is for golf. This is a Duke-UNC matchup we have on our hands here folks. If you haven’t been, get up there ASAP.

FINAL MATCH

  • The Quarry at Giants Ridge
  • Wilderness at Fortune Bay

Is anyone else disappointed that the two finalists are both 200 miles from the Cities? I understand it but it irks me for some reason.

Blame the guy who created the bracket

In all seriousness, Quarry and Wilderness were the top 2 seeds, so not surprised it turned out this way. I thought about creating regions but then the Final Four would end up being the best from each region and not necessarily the 4 best (arguably) in the state.

Genuinely curious though, what about it irks you?

For whatever reason I want the “best” course to be somewhere near the airport. It’s a tough sell to my out of town friends when I say you should fly up here and then we can drive 3 hours to my favorite course.

Completely irrational I know.

StoneRidge and Troy Burne are in the same class, but that 3 hour drive is totally worth it.

@Mystic i think the positive to take away is that there is still a lot of really good golf here in the Metro and through out the state

Metro had 3 of the top 8 with StoneRidge, Keller, and Rush Creek. Troy Burne wasn’t even included in this one, and I would think that would definitely be in the Elite 8 too.

The metro is loaded, it’s just if you really want that next level experience, you gotta travel for it. Between Rush Creek, Stoneridge, and Keller, your out of town buddies will be just fine.:ok_hand:t2:

Will the winning course be receiving any sort of hardware for their victory? Perhaps a blue ribbon? A digital badge? A t-shirt like one might receive after eating a dozen ghost pepper hot wings in 15 minutes? I’m a marketer by trade, so just spitballing here. Maybe something for The Committee to ponder.

Was thinking of giving 2nd place a gold star for their effort!
