Roll Call - MN contingent? (Part 1)

There’s been a few that have been surprisingly close. I feel like a lot of it is that people have only played 1 of the 2, so they vote for the one they’ve been to (or the other if the one was a shithole). I think Rush is a far superior course to the Jewel - and I really like the Jewel - but that’s just one man’s opinion.

For the high handicap guys they lost 10x less balls at Thumper than they did at Cragun’s.

I think it depends on the definition of “playable”. At Thumper, if you miss the fairway you’re punching out, which gets old after awhile but you won’t lose any balls. Craguns is wider for sure, but for 20 handicappers who are going to spray it, they’re going to lose a lot of balls.

Alright, polls are closed. Lots of blowouts again, looks like there’s a pretty clear Elite 8 based on the seeds here (1-7, and 9). Keller (9) over Legend at Giants Ridge (8) was the only upset. Also seems that I need to play The Jewel based on the votes last round.

Onto the Elite 8! This is where is gets harder.

@Buckles you may find more of the MN content you were asking about in the North Star thread

Yeah. Our group is a wide variety of golfers. 3 handicap to infinite. We get together once a year for 4 days. Golf 3 of them. Laugh, drink, eat, and shoot the s^*t. We have 2 8 man teams, Lagers vs Pilsners, but play for pride. It’s a blast and at $357 + tax we got quoted for unlimited golf, drink, food, and 8 2 man queen suites, tough to beat.
Thanks for all the input guys. Greatly appreciated.
Go Pilsners!!!

That’s a helluva deal, sounds like a blast man.

My apologies for not providing a formal welcome, @Buckles i have not been on my “A” game today.

Since you play out at Braemar, what’s your favorite hole? Please let @BaxterMSP know if you would like to get on the match play wait list as well. I’m sure after he returns he will be more than happy to include you.

Thank you @Battisstatus , good to be here!

Favorite hole at Braemar is probably #14. Depending on how the wind is coming in, it’s either a tough up hill par 4, or a reallllly tough uphill par 4 - for me anyway. Off the tee you need decide where you want to approach the hole from and if you want to challenge the traps on the left, and the green has a bunch of weird slopes where they can stick the pin is some pretty greasy spots. A challenging hole that feels great to walk away from with a par or a rare bird.

Little late here my man, but you’ll be happy to know that it was nominated into the top 64 regardless. Have heard good things, gotta get out there someday.

Thanks to all who suggested 2nd Swing to get a Driver fitting in here. I have yet to schedule my appointment but after 30 years of not playing, my parents decided to get back into golf and got fitted. They were just tickled by the whole fitting process and they won’t stop talking about how cool trackman and new equipment is.

Totally agree. That hole felt like a miss with the course redesign…it’s essentially the same hole as before but harder, but more importantly is that the trek up and decent down are a major bottleneck on the golf course.

3 seed Superior National is blown out by 6 seed Rush Creek! @BaxterMSP’s thoughts after hearing the news:

Onto the Final Four!

Walking outside today made me feel like we are weeks not months away from outdoor golf. #lfg

Crazy seeing Stoneridge and Quarry so close. I used to be a member at Stoneridge and love it a lot, definitely top 3 in the metro, but these two shouldn’t be this close.

I’d be curious as to how many of the total have played both courses. Conditioning was shitty a couple years ago up there too, could be a factor.
