IPho is my favorite. Pho Tau Bay is probably second for me. I like Quangs quite a bit but its not in my top 2.
I know it’s cool to like pho or whatever but I’ll say it ---- it’s not that good and has a bit of an identity problem.
There’s broth, which objectively is wonderful and will cure whatever ails you and can be eaten with a spoon or slurped.
There’s noodles, which require chopsticks or a fork to eat.
There’s the accoutrements, some can be eaten with a spoon, others with chopsticks/fork.
Then there’s the meat * shudders *. It’s generally full of cartilage and it requires multiple utensils to be cut into pieces because it’s often too big to eat in one bite.
Breaking into this food discussion to pose a question to our MN Refugee contingent. Based on availability we’re closing in on a date for the 2nd Annual North Star Shootout.
- Yes - Wouldn’t miss it, even if it means I have to get a divorce
- No - My significant other controls my calendar/checkbook

I’ll sign in blood if it shuts this god damn BBQ discussion down.
2nd kid is due at the end of June, so not sure I’ll be able to leave the wife home alone just yet
You already had your first kid right? She knows the drill.
going to print this for her to end the argument.
She’ll be fine…men didn’t even show up for deliveries until the last 10 years or so.
I tried to be nice…you can relocate to here though. It appears this page needs some activity.
Ugh that date is tough. I’m probably out of town that week. Who knows with covid tho. Really don’t want to miss it.
Not to take away from the importance of NSSO2, I’ve been spending part of my day reflecting on some of the courses I played this year, and was curious what the contingents views of St. Croix National in Somerset are (MN adjacent)? I have decided to firmly plant myself on Fuck Dellwood, btw.
I would agree on the Dellwood take.
Haven’t been to St. Croix National in years, but that’s probably for a reason. It was novel once. After that it just got annoying. There is good land movement, and then there is whatever the hell that place has.
You mean the ski slope with grass?
I played out there more than any other course this summer (can’t beat the $35 student rate with a cart) and although my first few times out previous years I wasn’t a fan – pissed at some of the lies on slopes, extreme punishment for small misses on some greens, and tight driving lines-- It’s grown into one of my favorites. I felt this year the greens were exceptional, and overall the conditioning was great for the prices. Some of the tee boxes need a bit of work with being uneven or sloping, but once you know the place and the “cannot go here spots”, it’s a fun loop that gives you the chance to go real low, especially on the back. That’s my brief 2cents.
I like the course. I think you can usually find a groupon for for 2 people for $50 riding most of the time too. I dont know if I would say its the “best” course. But Ive always had fun hitting all the different shots they have there.
I am dense &/or butthurt
Edit I am a yes but, let’s be very clear, Mrs. Status controls my calendar and check book.
ND Refugee checking in on the MN thread per @anon3021505 and @JScore being ‘adopted’ by you fine Minnes-O-tans:
Raised on the wonderful and creative Joel Goldstrand designed Tipsinah Mounds (the original nine), game was honed on the last family owned sand greens course in MN (RIP Red Rock), much more familiar with outstate vs metro golf, would strongly consider serving TaterTot Hotdish at my Club’s Champions Dinner (if victorious), looking forward to a winter full of commentary and golf in the Great North.
Dellwood STINKS. Just not a fun golf course. I actually like St. Croix National. It’s completely different and I like that about it. The problem is that there are like 2 or 3 truly awful holes out there that kind of ruin it for me. 14 in particular is a contender for one of the worst golf holes of all time and belongs in the worst golf holes thread.
Look at this fucking atrocity of a par 4.
It’s like 210 to the end of the first fairway, and in between the two landing areas there’s a massive 50+ foot hill. I think it’s like 270 to the next fairway, which you can’t even see from the tee and have to hit a massive slice to get to. If you lay up in above the hill in the first fairway, it’s 190 to the green, which is perched up on another 50+ foot hill from the 2nd fairway. Absolutely awful.
Never played Dellwood. I have played St. Croix National once and that was once too many
@Battisstatus makes 11 at Voyager Village look reasonable
