“I think there are a lot of Munihack’s, this is the 7th one apparently”
“Tron’s vanity handicap truther??”
With the I’m Ron Burgandy? voice raise…
Yeah I suppose it makes sense especially if there are people causing trouble, which I’m sure there are. But yeah I don’t need to be reminded to be at the course early lol
Amazing
Shots fired at EAL
Not that it would change how I behave on a course because I like to think I’m not an asshole, but courses will not hesitate to call the PCC director if you’re in any altercation.
Played behind some older ladies on “ladies night” and they were staying on the greens to putt around while we were in the fairway and the group ahead was on the following holes green so we confronted them about it and they threw a tantrum about ladies night. Got an email from PCC guy the next day about how we can’t cause trouble yada yada since the ladies told the clubhouse about us and the clubhouse can see we were PCC. Wouldn’t blame anyone but those ladies since they overreacted, but it’s just another thing you have to worry about. 99% of the time that’s not an issue, but if you accidentally hit into someone and they don’t like it, it can come back at you.
I’ve been a PCC member from the beginning and it has been an ok value. It helps that I have days off during the week. I feel like I’m getting good value then when most of the deals you find are for two or four golfers. I live really close to Les Bolstad and I end up going there the most just out of convenience. Doesn’t mean I don’t pine to be across the street at Midland though.
I’ve had my fill of Mr Salespitch, he seems to talk the talk but a lot of his “big announcement coming soon” never materializes. He reminds me of the corporate buzz word thread.
Yeah I think if you can play a decent amount during the week (at least 18) it’s a really good deal.
I did PCC for 2 years before going the C-suite route. I never used it on weekends just because I have the opportunity to golf during the week, so I definitely got my use out of it. I didn’t like when the tier system came in and the “free” use of cart was promoted as a bonus. I messaged Kevin who runs it and didn’t feel like he got my point- if I walk, why should I pay the same as someone who uses a cart?
My finale was the PCC Championship at Southern Hills which was a 6 hour shotgun where I almost fought a golfer in the group ahead who was searching for his 3rd OB tee shot and holding us up.
Yeah, I played in their end of the year scramble at the Royal in 2018. The short par 4 on the back nine jacked up the entire event, with at a minimum three groups waiting on the tee. Watched a guy snap-hook one that bounced off of TWO houses and then he had the audacity to re-fucking tee in a scramble. His second shot was no better and damn near broke a window.
It was a 5.5 hour slog in 40 degree weather. I won a closest to the pin for $10 in PCC credit that I’ve still never claimed.
I’ve been a member for three years and use the shit out of it. I live on the east side of the metro so I have a ton of courses to choose from. The blackout times 7am - 11am Sat, Sun, & holidays is not a big thing for me because I will usually sneak out during the week at like 6am and get a round or two in. I think its paid off for me.
East side definitely gets more bang for their buck than west especially if you’re near the eagan area.
This is my second year of being a PCC member and have got my use out of it. However, I really think it depends where you live.
Welp I joined it, here we go lads
I used to play in some of the scrambles and events TCG put on, but like others got tired of the nonsense-adjacent, the long drives, and massively long tourney rounds.
I finally had to eject from TCG on social media because I could no longer take the constant selfie videos being posted at some random golf course 4 hours from my house that I will never play. The marketing plan there just doesn’t speak to me.
PCC seems like it could maybe be a good deal if the times, participating courses and numbers work for you. It’s not for me, but may be a godsend to folks with more flexibility.
I do still rely on TCG to aggregate the info about course openings and I give them props for being a directory of all things MN golf.
Completely unrelated to the PCC/TCG talk. Anyone going to the Iration concert at First Ave tonight? I’m dragging Mrs. Tryhard along and it looked like there was still tickets available.
Thought about it but Mrs. Nanski has less than zero interest and I go to a lot of shows as is
Really wanted to but can’t, I’m sure it’ll be a great show.
First time poster. Been listening to the pod for a while and lurking around here off and on for a bit, but #getinvolved and all, figured no better time than now to say hi.
I talked the wife into going to the Iration show last night. We are far from regular concert goers, and it was actually my first time at First Ave proper (been to 7th St Entry a while ago), but we had a great time. Was curious how many, if any, other people were there after hearing about them on the pod/Tourist Sauce. I was keeping an eye out for any NLU merch, but didn’t spot any.
Other than that, just trying not to get my hopes up about this 40 degree heat wave coming and keep reminding myself that we have (at least) one or two more sizable snowfalls coming, inevitably.
I did get to Braemar last weekend for the first time, pretty impressed with their set up there.
That’s cool, but have you seen this thread?
