Fallen Oak GC - it is the course for the Beau Rivage casino. They host the Rapiscan Systems Classic for the Champions Tour. Foookin puuuure my friend. Diamondhead CC (Pine & Cardinal) - Monday qualifier for the Rapiscan is usually played on the Pine course here. They can get those greens running, but it is open to the public. Just make sure you schedule a tee time a week in advance. Windance CC - this one is in Gulfport and is secluded like Grand Bear, but is also a part of a neighborhood. Probably 10 - 15 minutes north of I-10. Shell Landing GC - this a Davis Love III course. Absolutely loved it. It is in Gautier, MS and is only 20 - 30 minutes from the casinos in Biloxi. Highly. Recommend.
Now those are the ones that I personally recommend. Some others that I have played/heard good things about are: Sunkist GC, Gulf Hills, The Oaks (do not play if it has rained), The Bridges.
IMO, unlucky. No turn over in management to my understanding. Check the post I just put up for some others that are all 10 - 30 minutes from the casinos in Biloxi.
@JCO lucky for them Iāve never seen one, but I have also never been the first tee time out whilst playing there. Would hate to explain to the pro how my patented worm burner resulted in a deer strapped to the front of the cart!
My brotherās MIL works for the Beau, so she got us on Fallen Oak for free a few years back. Lordy, that place is sweet.
My girlfriendās parents live on Diamondhead CC, but her family doesnāt play golf so Iāve never actually played the course. Looks like Iāll have to make an effort next time Iām in town.
Do it. If you can, make a day of it and play both courses. End it with dinner in Bay St. Louis at The Blind Tiger or 200 North Beach and wash it down with some drinks and live music at Triple Tails or Dan Bās.
My family has a camp on the river in BSL, so holler if you can make the time and Iāll come hit a few with you.
Iām 30 min south of Hattiesburg in Poplarville. We moved there from Atlanta three years ago. Played a few of the courses on the coast and Timberton and Shadow Ridge in Hattiesburg. Very interested in making it up to Old Waverly and Mossy Oak. Does anyone have any updates about the King Collins design near Jackson? Hope that is something special.
The Jackson project is definitely still a go. There are apartments being developed on some land next to the golf course (land that used to be part of Colonial CCās course), but thatās only a portion of the property. The overwhelming majority of the acreage is going to the golf course.
Also, theyāre not ālow-incomeā apartments (whatever the hell that is). Opponents of the development certainly have characterized them that way, though, because the phrase ālow-incomeā carries an unmistakable racial undertone in Mississippi.
The plan is to start fundraising in 4Q 2020 and break ground in 3Q 2021. Iām sure COVID could have something to say about that timeline, but at this point, thatās the plan.
Thanks! Iām looking to get some opinions on Old Waverly in West Point. Weād have 10-12 people on the trip. Are the cabins big enough for that many people?
So I know both the cottages at Old Waverly and Mossy Oak have four rooms. They do have an option to go with the double queen room route so you could probably squeeze 10-12 guys in there depending how close the group is. Make sure to play Mossy Oak as well while yāall are there since itās just across the street. If you have even more time during the trip, Mississippi State University golf course is also a fun track over in Starkville.
The cottage I stayed at on the Mossy Oak course had 4 rooms with 2 queen beds in each room and 2 big couches in the common room. Plenty of space for a air mattress or two if they allow that.
Has anyone heard when (officially) the Refuge in Jackson is opening back up? Excited to see how they have made that place a little less tight because it was always a really cool setting. Would definitely go back to Jackson to play it.
