Roll Call: Minnesota Part 2 - SIM MEETUP post 9471

Realized after I responded that I’m going to be in Tennessee that weekend! @GRWhitehead is going to miss out on my 3 OB drives and one miracle 40 footer this go-round.

Not to distract from sim meetup 2, but much like @MerchCzar I too have a desire to better track my stats and data for the 2022 season. Will it help?? Who knows! But, I am cheap and don’t wanna pay for any apps etc. so I’ve been making some excel/python workbooks to accomplish this. I realize not everyone has experience with all that, but I’m curious if people in here would have interest in using my templates themselves? Can give more details on it if there is interest

C’mon in and join the fun. I promise there will be no random number guessing this go around @aspoiledwalk

A sampling of the 'Entire Year Stats" → already have code built out for selecting a single round, or a month/collection of months, but need to integrate it into a function so it’s easier for non-nerds to use.

*this is made up data I just randomly put in to test my initial thoughts - ya’ll know I make eagles haha

As a “nerd”, my heart is so full seeing this screenshot.

Sweetens??

As a nerd-appreciater but not nerd myself, forgive me if my question is ignorant to the difficulty, but do you plan to incorporate direction within the code for missed fairways and greens? Left, right, short, long, etc

I believe that day works for me. Daughter’s volleyball games should be wrapped up by that time of the night.

Yes I do! In the jupyter notebook that I am using for testing I have a note to add columns in the base csv to enter Left or Right for FIR, and then L, R, S, and Incarito for GIR. Simple enough to add!

In it’s current form - I have a majority of things built out in the ‘test’ notebook, working on building the ‘easier for non coder’ notebook. In it’s final final form, I should be able to share a folder that a user will copy/download, and all the user has to do is add the data into the csv (following the given key/instructions), download python (which is pretty easy), and click ‘Run’.

That’s really sweet man. I have been wanting to get some basic stats tracking software for my high school team, and given that our budget is tighter than Neil’s pants in the Secession GC episode of Tourist Sauce-Carolinas, this sounds perfect,

@freesypop you are going to be captain number one. Choose your opposing captain.

(If you need me to post the list of 15 other players I can but would appreciate you look at the previous posts)

Hell yeah, that’s dope! I can’t lie to you - the lift on your end to fill out multiple base excel spreadsheets for however many golfers will take some time. Plus, you’re going to be counting on a bunch of 14-18 year olds to remember to fill all these extra stats in on their cards. But hey, I truly hope it helps!

Hoping to have the final notebook built out this week, then will make some documentation on how to use the files and downloading python etc. I’ll keep the MN contingent informed
