Does the conditioning just suck?

How much over priced, boutique NA drinks can I sneak into my golf bag while you all enjoy yourselves? #dryjanuary

At one point the University used the property as an arboretum so there are far too many trees that hurt turf health and hinder playability at times. It’s frustrating that the original clubhouse from the 1900’s was condemned. It has the potential to be one of the coolest places in golf. A lot of the irrigation is original so I know that can be a challenge with conditioning. I think there’s endless potential there.

There was a solid two month period this fall that it was in good shape. All the senior projects were over and the “real” greens keepers had it primo. But then the leaves start falling and it’s impossible to play once that starts.

Original site of Midland Hills, yes? Pre-Raynor

Midland was built because the original 9 at Les Bolstad was too crowded. Raynor happened to be in the area because he was building Somerset at that time.

Right. The University of Minnesota golf club moved its club to the more suitable location where Midland is now and just happened to get Raynor

Anybody know what happened with the redesign that Lehman was going to do at Bolstad?

I believe he (or someone??) redesigned the first three holes for a more interesting routing two or three years ago.

Agreed with @natecardingolf that they could benefit from ripping about 1,000 trees out there.

Conditioning goes in and out through the season (which stinks) and with whichever class of students is taking care of it (which is kind of cool but also stinks).

If you haven’t played it I think you should! Fun little walk.

As @freesypop said I think he rerouted the first three holes, and hole three still stinks. He must have spent too much time redoing the practice facility that only the teams can use, it looks amazing.

Let me know what day you play Bolstad and I’ll be sure to honk as I drive past that dump to Midland

Worst part of Les is the 16th tee when you can see Midland and remember that if you weren’t a lowly peasant you could be playing over there.

A gentleman would extend the invite for a 36 hole day along Cleveland Ave.

You’re right, I apologize.

@bobs219 want to go play Midland?

Because I kind of stole a spot from him last time, it’s only fair.
