Roll Call: Minnesota Part 2 - SIM MEETUP post 9471

Oh my sweet baby Jesus. I feel like we need to make a NSU “Top Courses in MN” list to combat this…

Also, a completely stuck up, bastardized Raynor over 2 recently renovated to their glory Raynor’s is an absolute travesty.

@BaxterMSP has a list already. We could just flood the IG comments telling them why they’re idiots like everyone else?

That’s one awful list. Bearpath is right at the bottom next to Mendakota when it comes to private course rankings. Hazeltine as #3 course in the state is an afront to all mankind

Having Quarry above WBYC is fucking hilarious and makes me think someone at GD just felt like stirring the pot for no reason.

The quarry over white bear is absolutely laughable.

MN Valley is a homage to Raynor, even though they claim he was the architect. Zero proof he laid out that course.

Midland is absolutely better than Somerset present state. Nothing I want more than Somerset doing a true reno to bring back all the original Raynor bones and removing all traces of Stanley Thompson

Very possible. Even more likely, though; they just have absolutely no idea what they’re talking about. The “journalism” coming out of GD the past few years has been laughable at best. It’s basically a tabloid at this point.

I feel like it’s a “we need to rank a public in the top 3” kind of thing. And I didn’t know that about MinnValley, I need to catch up on my reading I guess!

This is the right comment, well done.

Going to try and start cornering the market on fine dining in MSP. Basically I just want to be like @BaxterMSP is to private golf. Had dinner at Blondette tonight. Outstanding space. We sat on the patio, but the inside looked really cool. Oysters were ok, pommes Anna was really good. Burrata was also really good starter. For dinner we split up the duck, gnocchi, scallops and Wagyu Zabuton. The Gnocchi, Scallops and Wagyu were all very very good. I’d pass on the duck next time. Crème brûlée for dessert maybe left a little to be desired and I love crème brûlée. All and all I really liked Blondette. Next up is Alma on July 7th.

alma the goat. dont skip the duck there….

Anyone looking to play this weekend or got a spot for a single to tag along?

Define weekend….

*Saturday or Sunday

Got it. Was going to say I’ve got a spot with me and @charvey tomorrow afternoon if you’re interested.

Weekend weather is looking a little dicey, might play Sunday but won’t likely know until Sat night

Looking forward to seeing if @tj_denawli has a plaque on hole 8 from his side hill buried in the rough over the bunker up and down from 130 yards on hole 8 in your match last year.

I had an all-world par on 8 on Father’s Day… Playing 195 into the fan, pulled 4i and proceeded to top it so bad I almost missed it - rolled down the front of the box and just over the horizontal cart path. I get down there and it’s 148 stick (back right, kind of in the ridge), and above my feet about 6 inches. I have 8 iron because I play a half set of evens, and I’m just thinking “there’s no way I can get it back there”. So I just swing hard and catch it clean, somehow fly it to pin high and it hops about 3 feet forward. Had a nervy, 8-ish foot downhill right-to-lefter that thankfully hit the hole in the center.

My brother had a similarly ridiculous par on 11.

Yep, basically exactly the same thing I did, except mine was to like 3ft and I got to watch Baxter’s head explode.

I just booked a single at 6am tomorrow at Keller. There is one more spot you can book online if that works for you.

Can only speak for myself but after attending all 3 years of the previous Shootouts I finally ran into one this year where I have a conflict (weddings on Friday and Saturday of that weekend).

My participation in events and the board overall has also dropped significantly due to getting busier at work (not to mention being in the office more so harder to just sit on the board during the workday) and also having weekends filled with home project.

Hoping my involvement can pick up a little bit more here in the future. :crossed_fingers:
