Roll Call: Minnesota Part 2 - SIM MEETUP post 9471

#11 at Chaska can step on Legos for eternity. Unfairly hard and poorly designed.

With Keller being my 2nd home, I’d like to nominate 9, as a drawer that tee shot is impossible, I usually have to just smack driver off the deck and try to cut it low. And the 2nd shot from 150 out is never kind to me for some reason.

Don’t know why 11 plays so hard. Even when I hit a good tee shot, I botch that approach more often than not. It’s usually kind of a wash though with 10 being an easier birdie. Like birdie 10, make an unnecessary bogey at 11, and be even through 2 on the back.:smiling_face_with_tear:

9 is a pain for a lefty that fades it as well. I’ve started moving way to the right and attempt hit a big cut around the right side of the tree. If you send the straight ball right, you end up in 10 fairway and still have a look.

#16 at Braemar…it could be the ā€œwaterā€ which is more like a swamp, but if I try to drive it, then it ends up in the water. Hopefully this is the year that I can get a better grasp on it!

It always seems like the pin is on the edge of the crown in the green, if you miss you always have a 6/7 footer coming back.

Highland guy as well. I’ll throw out hole 15 as my personal hardest hole from the back tees. If you bomb a drive the hole is manageable, but too often I’m either in the right tree’s or messing around with the snoopy bunker. Not to mention if the pin is anywhere but front left its a challenging pin position.

I INTERRUPT THIS PROGRAM TO BRING YOU AN URGENT MESSAGE FROM @ChickPhilA:

Howdy, everyone!!

Our H&B/NLU/Roost polo pre-sale is starting today!! We will have the orders open from now through June 2, 2023.

The page can be found here: NLU + H&B Roost Polos - Special Order – No Laying Up

There is an FAQ right on that page, but here is the quick 411.

  1. your nest discount does work on these!
  2. you can place an order for this and other non-special order stuff in the same order - the Utah stuff will ship out ASAP as normal, the H&B Roost Polos will ship directly from H&B after being embroidered (late june/early july) to the same address that you have on the order.
  3. there are NO RETURNS on the special order/pre-order H&B Roost polos - obviously if there’s an issue, reach out, but make sure to pay attention to what size and roost you put in your cart prior to paying!!
  4. proceeds will go to Youth on Course as always
  5. working on getting a ladies option for the next round - H&B is moving to a new facility so we were unable to do it at this time, but we have a plan for the next drop!! Trust me, as a gal, I wanna rock some roost shit too!

Massive thank you to Casey and the rest of the NLU Merch team for putting this together!

I always find #3 to be sneaky hard. Not the most difficult on the course, but that one definitely has my number, especially playing into a freshening south breeze. The green is small and there are some dicey pins.

For sure. Seems so easy when you bomb driver and hit the flip wedge, but sometimes you try to play smart and hit 4 iron left of the bunker, leave the longer approach, but then you block that and short side yourself.:man_facepalming:t2:

Anyone else nervous about white polos and the likelihood of developing pit stains on a $100 shirt?

@phrodo my gui! This is so cool - well done man!

Yes. But I’ve heard rubbing a dryer sheet on pit stains will take them out. Also a little soak in oxy clean and warm water works wonders. Also no minimums so order if you want, don’t if you don’t.

Thanks guys! Was a ton of fun to write. I wish Will wouldve played a bit better today — I followed him for his front nine today, he was nerrrrrrrvous.

Just wanted to circle back and say that the Keller recommendation was stellar. Man what a treat you all have with that course. It was in great shape. Played with two different sets of locals (sorry for not coming back here for a meetup), but they were incredibly kind. Chris (front 9) is NLU adjacent and mistook me for Big Randy for a half second after seeing my NLU hat. Mr. Dave (Back 9) offered some wonderful local knowledge on various holes. And the patio was great while I waited for my Uber. Northern hospitality was great. Thanks to this crew.

Glad you were able to get out there. The tee sheet is a bloodbath. And it is truly a special course, best value in the state IMHO.

I know we’re probably still waiting for a few more shots to fill, but any updates on the bracket and when first rounds should be played by?
