I’ve been getting the Ryobi stuff (hand tools, leaf blower, weed whacker) but think I’ll pass on electric for the snow blower. Don’t really shop at Menards but the prices for blowers there are much cheaper than elsewhere but again, not familiar with the brands they sell.
agree 100%. I have 3-4 items, and the snowblower is calling my name. My old Toro Snow Commander is 20 years old, and I need a two stage on days like this.
I have an Ariens snow thrower, much smaller like the ECO GO, probably 50-60 lbs and it has never failed me. In the bigger piles where the plow goes through I might have to take a couple passes but it is so light that it doesn’t bother me.
I’ve been eyeing the Ego equipment for a couple years but haven’t pulled the trigger yet. I’ve had to shovel 7+ hours the last few days and it’s pushing me over the edge. Not used to this much snow in SE SD.
Also first post since middle of summer. Went from a job that was eating my time and soul to one this is much more balanced. So I’m hoping to be a little more active on here even if I’m not often driving to Minneapolis for meetups. Added my name to the waitlist for Landman, that course looks awesome.
I will tell you, I have a Toro gas snow blower, and just broke a shear pin this week. What an absolute goat rodeo that was to replace something so simple.
When you look up the model online, it actually tells you that it doesn’t have shear pins, when, hey, I can actually see the pin, and you know, hammered out the one that broke. So I head down to the local hardware store and the front door hadn’t even closed when the man behind the counter told me that they don’t have any 1/2" shear pins in stock. Fine, I got a 1/2" bolt to get me through, and headed to the 'ol Amazon to get some replacements. If you want to drive yourself crazy, head to Amazon and type in Toro snow blower shear pins, and let the fun commence.
TL:DR- got some off brand shear pins being delivered tomorrow, and I’m sure it will be fine.
My Cub Cadet came with like 2 or 3 spares, for what it’s worth
I’ve got a 20 pack coming, so they better outlive me.
Since we are deep in “snow removal talk”, can someone point me in the direction as to the legality of throwing snow off a 4th floor apartment balcony? We are on the top floor of our particular building, #C-Suite, and as a result have accumulated A LOT of snow - and I am somewhat concerned about the weight situation.
It would of course be done in the cover of darkness and I would even go and scoop the thrown snow off the sidewalk below cause I am not a heathen. We live in a society after all.
My initial thought was that I don’t see a problem at all. and that was before reading you would even go shovel it from below as well. Going the extra mile, throw that snow sir.
IANAL (best acronym of all time and it’s not close) but I think as long as you don’t hit anybody with said snow you’re probably fine.
This is the push I needed - however, if it all goes to shit, I will be including both of these messages in the legal proceedings
take it from a homeowner that has cleared so much snow this past week (humblebrag?)…take full advantage of apartment living and don’t lift a finger when you don’t need to
This is the way. Man do I miss the heated garage parking and watching the snow fly knowing I wouldn’t need to touch a shovel.
But I don’t miss basically living in a cave in the winter.
Not looking forward to shoveling out the mailbox this weekend. Appears to have several feet of snow in front on top and around.
I got a Buddy that legitimately never desires to own home for this and a variety of other reasons that I’m sure homeowners are aware of (which sometimes I’m legitimately jealous of lol)
Very last call for beanies and Glencairns. @BaxterMSP get yourself some new glassware. @Mystic… Pay the Man
Done me boy!
Are you still planning on joining the NSU sim meet up in 2 weeks?
Indeed - I’m not traveling with clubs so was going to try and barter this week for someone to bring me some sticks. I’ll be active on Monday/Tuesday on this. #MinnesotaPrime
