Roll Call: Minnesota Part 2 - SIM MEETUP post 9471

Hey guise, I was supposed to work Saturday but no longer am. Slim pickings for many tee times out there so if anyone has an open spot they’re sitting on lmk, would love to get out!

… so just use your club rounds for the quota game?

Hey man, I have two spots open at Keller on Saturday at 2:42pm if you want to join

That’s exactly how I did it for The Duck Club. Always meant I was playing with somebody else, always for money, and was a nice reason for the wife why I HAD to be out there that day.

Finally, I get to return to Wildflower Golf Course tomorrow. I didn’t get a chance to play it at all last season and the season before it was in kind of rough shape and had just started with a new super.

I’ve heard from a few people that the place is absolutely dialed right now and I can’t wait to see it again and shoot a 93 with 8s on hole 8 and hole 10.

Played it about a month ago and it certainly was dialed. Love that place.

Hype levels reaching new levels now that @kirkeide1 has chimed in too.

Just a few years ago almost every green had major damage on it. Hole 4’s green was basically completely gone.

Is 8 a bad hole or do I just need to play better?

Me, every time I’m on Hole 8 tee box:

Just play it smart. Anywhere in the fairway, then wedge to the corner to give yourself as easy of an approach into the green as you can.

[lying two in the vicinity of that corner]

[shot 3 catches branches and dies short or ricochets into the trees in a worse position]

[continue to get worse]

[finally on the green, but on the wrong tier]

[3 putt for triple or worse]

I’ve only played it once, but I missed my tee shot left and was blocked out by those trees so I had to lay up twice to have a clear shot at the green.

Generally speaking most of Wildflower needs a tree reduction and tree trim which I know they’ve done some removal.

Very excited to see the current condition.

The trees up the shoot to the green on 8 last time I was there were so beaten by golf balls and overgrown it definitely was a problem.

Plus all that shade left the turf there very soft and muddy quite often.

Are we talking about #7 at Veenker yet?

I’m looking for a third course somewhere in between Sauk Centre and Rogers for an upcoming golf weekend. We’re currently playing Greystone and Minnewaska. Any great recommendations either near 94 or we could take back roads from New London to Buffalo?

Trying to think of the courses over there. You’ve already got the main 2 that I would recommend. Here’s a few that come to mind.

-Territory: St. Cloud with one nine links, and the other nine in the woods, great value, it’s east of St. Cloud so might be a bit of a drive but that’s one of my favorites.

-Albion ridges: Annandale area, links course, 27 holes. Really good greens.

-Kimball: really freaking hilly with some holes I’ve never really seen anywhere else. Not sure what conditions are like though.

Other options that I enjoy

-Pebble Creek (just a solid golf course but I’m assuming that’s a little too close to home as it’s Becker, same with Fox Hollow)
-BlackBerry Ridge (good conditions, hard as hell, north of St. Cloud)
