Honestly, look for something in Grayling. Gates for dinner followed by drinks at Paddle Hard and Ray’s. There are also dive bar options should the night take you in that direction.
I’ll talk to the guys, thanks !!
The only direction to go
Agree, hard no to going back to Saginaw. Even 45 minutes to Gaylord is better. Houghton Lake and Grayling both are better options.
Quick update on avoiding Saginaw, we called Forest Dunes and they had a villa available for us so we are going straight there from DTW. Is there anything on that drive that we should stop and see. We aren’t in a rush but don’t want to go too far out of the way.
Stop at Tonys in Birch Run.
I would say no, but I’m old-ish and don’t need that much bacon. FD has excellent onsite drinking/dining and, depending on arrival time, you could spend the evening on the Bootlegger course.
It’s the experience more than the food.
you comin to Lansing or what?
Can’t…college visit scheduled for my oldest that day.
How was the Charlevoix muni course?
We played it a couple weeks ago as a Belvedere warm up, it was a delight
Scheduled to play the woodlands at Whittaker next Tuesday in new Buffalo area. Anyone played there before?
It was a fun warm up course for Belvedere. Same designer, just on a smaller scale. It’d also be a fun quick nine while on vacation in the area.
Was wondering about that place too. I’ve probably driven by it 100 times without ever knowing it was there and so close to the highway.
It’s been close to 8 years since I played Whittaker, believe it was called Whittaker Woods when I played.
Lots of trees and tight fairways. I recall it being in pretty good shape.
Wife and I are in Michigan for next week. Just got done taking the subi on Silver Lake Dunes. Then going to traverse for a few day before Mac Island and Pictured Rocks.
Any food, brew, wine recs in Traverse?
Tee times currently at Wawashkamo and Greywalls next week that Im really looking forward to.
Yuck! ha.
Go to Hoplot in Sutton’s Bay while you’re in the Traverse area.
I’m not exactly a wine guy but there are a ton of wineries in Old Mission Peninsula. Mari Vineyards was one of the wife’s favorites.
Silver Lake Dunes is such a cool spot
