Roll Call - Metro NYC

Not sure if I should be posting in the Metro NYC thread or a different NY thread, but me and 2 others are heading up to Briarcliff Manor to play The Golfer’s Journal event at some place called Sleepy Hollow CC on August 21st. We are looking for a game somewhere with Refugees on Saturday, August 19th or Sunday, August 20th. Anyone interested?

@NYC @DaLK23 @ProB1 @Cinnamon @Pat help Justin out. I tried hard to get something setup with him at Knollwood but I’m getting dragged by my wife and kids to FL

I’ll be at a wedding and NLU Summer Fest that weekend, but I’m sure someone from the group can get something set up

Glad to hear Pat might be around. I’ll be in Colorado on the tail end of a Ballyneal trip

i’m always down to play! going to try and play Yale on the 18th, and might be able to swing Taconic if you’re up for the hike

Unfortunately I’ll be in Portland for work from the 16th until the 28th or else I would.

Isn’t Yale closed? Or is this happening at the end of the playing season?

Excellent. So I might still be able to get a round in if I plan things out correctly… Thank you both for the info.

Would love to tee it up with you and @Cinnamon (and others). I’m currently staying at the DoubleTree by Hilton Nanuet, and would take any and all recs.

What’s the story with Bethpage? A couple of the guys were going to try and get on Black or Red. Is it hard? Is it worth it? Anyone want to tag along?

Moving into NYC in about a month - also the Upper East Side. Can someone send me the discord link as well? Moved from Atlanta where golf is year round, so the handicap is about as good as it’s ever gonna be at 0.7. Hoping to go out to Bethpage somewhat regularly or if there’s anywhere else that not too difficult to get to from the city.

Getting a tee time? Yes, especially as a non-state resident. The actual course? Also yes but I enjoy a good kick in the dick every once in a while.

Bethpage in general is worth it. The Black will wear you down but it’s definitely worth making a trip to play. Red is #2 and very, very good (especially the back 9). Green and Yellow are also very good (green more challenging then Yellow but I love Yellow personally). Blue stinks!

FYI - based on where you’re staying, getting to/from Bethpage might be a nightmare on the weekend. You might be better off taking @Cinnamon up on Taconic. Also, I know I mentioned this to you in DMs but don’t look past Links at Union Vale (my happy place and the place is MINT right now)

But is it easy for someone like @Pat to get a tee time at Bethpage?

Early reports are that Taconic is too far away (not my decision), but I’m still trying to push for it.

I think we’re planning on playing Pound Ridge one day, and then still free agents for the other day on the weekend (Taconic, Bethpage or something else like Links at Union Vale).

@Pat should I slide in your DM’s with @Cinnamon?

EDIT: EFF, Links at Union Dale is punching on 8/16 & 8/17

Ah damn, yeah it’s punching season around here

Anyone interested in playing Pound Ridge on Saturday at 1:22pm with me and a guy named “Thrasher”?

Staying in Southampton for the week with the family. Is Poxabogue worth sneaking out to? Have heard mixed/bad reviews. Any other ideas?

Poxy is fun with a half set/nothing longer than a hybrid. Definitely a relaxing round, it’s basically an executive course. Can bring the whole family. The restaurant and patio are a nice hang.

For a full 18, I’d check out Indian Island (assuming your outreach for prospective member rounds at Shinny keep getting unread like mine). Excellent water views on the first 10 holes, solid county golf, not far from SH. Anything else is a little further.
