Roll Call - Metro NYC

Sounds good. Would definitely like to be a part of what I can.

Hey @TheRHCaddie I moved to the UES in November and am looking for the same thing you are - people to play golf with. DM me (are there DMs in this? I donā€™t know how computers work) if you want to play a round or head to the loft links sim.

Sprian Lake ends up being ok if you get out early enough. Where do you play out in Westhampton?

Havenā€™t tried sprain lake yet, wasnā€™t here for golf season last year, so getting out to some of those tracks in the next few weeks.

Westhampton is also new, but Iā€™ve played both of the Cherry Creek courses, they are alright. Looking to expand into a few other courses this summer.

Nice! I was on the UES for about 12 years - love the neighborhood. I was so annoyed when Randallā€™s range closed down.

I used to train it down to New Brunswick and play Rutgers a lot. Kind of a hike but I didnā€™t have a car when I was in city so options were kind of limited. Also RUGC is the best. Great bang for the buck and they keep the pace pretty good.

Hi all ā€“ I live in Greenwich Village but play most of my golf out of Briarā€™s Creek down in Charleston, SC. Iā€™m originally from southwestern CT but just moved back to NYC after a decade in SF. Iā€™m interested in joining any meetups in the city if they exist to meet new folks (COVID hasnā€™t been conducive to making new friends!)

This has to be one of the most confusing introductions ever

Welcome! Thereā€™s nearly 100 of us that have a side WhatsApp chat in the NY area and play a LOT of golf together. We even have a website and membership of you wanted to join! Check it out here

Hit me up in DMs if you want to join the chat or ha e any questions.

Hey everybody,

Iā€™m Eric. I just graduated college. Just joined the nest. 4.5 handicap. Grew up on the UES but now living in Greenwich Village. Played high school golf matches at Mosholu (best par 32 out there). Play a lot of my golf out in the Hamptons during the summer at The Bridge, but in the fall and spring, Iā€™m in the city. Always looking for new places to play and new people to meet. Excited to #getinvolved in all the message boards and the happenings in the NYC metro area. Let me know if thereā€™s anything I should know.

haha i split my time between NYC and CHS. itā€™s so much easier logistically to drive 15 mins to the course rather than make my way out of the city so I end up playing mostly when Iā€™m there and less so when Iā€™m in the city. but if there is a good group of people setting up games im definitely down to #getinvolved! Thanks for the info!

Congrats on the graduation and playing out of The Bridge! Weā€™ve got a good size group in the area and a bunch of guys in the city who are constantly organizing games. A lot of it happens on the side in our WhatsApp chat. Check out the post above yours and shoot a message to @HibernatingBear if you want to #getinvolved

Looking to see if there are NLU/Nest members looking to get together to play on Long Island.

Has anyone got recommendations for muniā€™s around Catskill / Hudson? Iā€™m there for 4 weeks, looks like there are a lot of courses but no easy to work out which may be the bestā€¦

Played Tarry Brae last weekend, fun track was in good shape except for some water in cups due to rain the night before.

A ton of players out on Long Island. I donā€™t think there is one specific track they play but they are definitely out here.

Gotta get more active on here so that we donā€™t seem like carpetbaggersā€¦ but realized that I never posted anything on here about our Girls on Greens event next weekend, and there might be some people out there that would love to come! Sorry fellas, this one is chicks only. BUT itā€™s really the perfect environment for anybody brand new to golf to fall in love with it. If youā€™ve got any wives/ girlfriends/sisters/moms/coworkers/ galpals that are interested in the game, but donā€™t know where to start, send 'em our way! We host it at Clearview Park in Queens, so there is no enforced dress code, and we attach a questionnaire to the registration that asks about skill level, how many holes you want to play, need for club rentals, etc. Keeping score is totally optional, as is playing the full 18, and the emphasis is really just on having some fun and playing some golf.

If youā€™ve got questions, let me know! Registration closes on Monday 5/10.

Long Island Nesticle here! Wanted to give you all the heads up: Tam Oā€™Shanter CC out here is now ā€œpublic for the summer,ā€ after the land the course sits on was sold to a developer who hopes to turn it into some sort of housing (which sucks). Played it yesterday and the course was in stellar shape. Theyā€™re not sure whatā€™s going to become of the course come the fall, but for now itā€™s open to all.

Will they be providing hookers to the public?

No hookers, but no well liquor in top shelf bottles eitherā€¦

Donā€™t ever see much about Harbor Links in Port Washington on this forum, but I play there regularly - pace of play has historically been the downfall, but the move to 10 minute tee time intervals has really improved pace this season. Course has undergone a ton of work (installed same bunker system as Bethpage Black) and is in great shape. Canā€™t really beat it in terms of proximity to NYC.

Did you just call them to get a tee time?
