Roll Call - Metro NYC

Played there today. It was not as bad as I expected but there are definitely some patchy areas.

Have two open spots at 1:15pm at Bethpage Black tomorrow. Anyone interested? Message me, if so

Anyone ever taken the subway up to Mosholu? On google maps it looks like they have a nice big practice facility, and looks very close to the subway stop as well. How’s the experience at this course?

good question & no I have not

I’ve taken the 1 to Van Cortland park and played there a couple of times. The train station is next to the park, about a 15 min walk if you cut through to the pro-shop. Just pulled up a google map sat image and you can see where to walk through.

I have not played Mosholu - not sure if it’s just a pitch-putt or a par 3 or a little exec course. I don’t know that you can walk there from the 1, but another line may be closer. If not, could easily take the 1 and get a 5min cab to get you there.

It’s a nice little track, very walkable from subway. It’s not just a pitch and putt, but also nothing to write home about.

They run the NY first tee out of there (at least used to), so it can be busy. Practice area is not good.

I’m about to cancel a 10:06 tee time (two people) for Bethpage black on Sunday September 1st.

If anyone wants to try to snag it, let me know and I will cancel at a time convenient for you.

Very glad Tuckahoe Rd. stayed open (pics from passenger seat). Although, it’s so gd painful to see this place on a regular basis and not have complete access to it…

It’s pretty cool that you can drive through the course, but kinda too bad there’s not a lot of public options out there.

That said, I really want to go back to Montauk Downs. Something about the feeling of being in the middle of nowhere was great.

I LOVE Montauk Downs. Camping at Hither Hills and golfing there is as Zen as I can get.

You can camp there then go play?

Hither Hills is a KOA campground right off the beach in Montauk. About a 15 min ride to Downs.

Happy to help. Belonged to 3 clubs in NJ and visited a bunch more on visits in Westchester

Not sure what this was in response to. I want to believe it was in response to somehow getting us all on Shinnecock

Lol someone at the start of the thread was asking about clubs in Metro NYC. Did the circuit in visiting and joining clubs was happy to answer questions.

Girlfriend’s father is a member at Shinnecock. Needless to say she’s a keeper.

Decided to play Moshulu last year for the first time. I was pleasantly surprised. Conditioning was pretty good for a muni and they have some pretty cool holes. I will say beware of pace of play just cause all of the par 3s. the second hole is a sub 100 par 3 and there is always good buildup. 9th hole is a biarritz. Can not confirm this, but I have heard that it is a Van Kleek design (partner of Wayne Stiles). I live in Manhattan and have been debating to take the 4. LMK if you ever head up

How often you get out? That’s great.

How is she not already “wife”? @Zocco is probably steaming right now. All that dating and he can’t find a “Shinny girl”
