Roll Call - Melbourne golfers!

They offered a 3:30 tee time, which looks like it would give me about 3hr 50 until the sunset time in Melbourne that day

March/April used to be my fav time of year in Melbourne. Clear skies, light breeze and about 23C. Perfect. Can also get the odd hot day 30 C day as well.

My plan for Melbourne,King Island and Tasmania for March 2023 is shaping up nicely.

Yep chance of a storm rolling through, but highly unlikely to get a full day of shit weather.

I’m gonna bite the bullet on that tee time. Worst case it’s a little dark finishing up. I don’t get to Australia often (ever) so what the heck

Sounds like an amazing trip! Adding Barnbougle would be great, personally I’d sub that in for SAB and Dunes (if possible). Having said that I think they’re both really fun courses and it would be fine as is.

Quite a list there. I’m planning a similar trip, but don’t think I’ll be able to hit that many courses. Tough part about RM is that you can’t play West and East on the same day at least with the public tee times they have, so I went for West to make sure I saw that. I’ve got KH booked and hopefully Victoria after I wrote back to them today. Definitely going to fit Cape Wickham in, but they actually didn’t respond when I put my info in their little web form, so I may call them, and will do Barnbougle + Lost Farm also. I also want to do NSW since I want to go to Sydney on this trip also, but they ask for a letter of rec, so I’ll need to ask the pro at the course where I keep my handicap

That makes me really happy! Weirdly, with all the other great courses I have lined up, I think Lonsdale is one of the rounds I’m most looking forward to. Barwon is my last of the trip so will either be completely over it or devastated that it’s come to an end - either way, sounds like a great course to finish on.

Beach or Creek? Def go Beach if you can.

Barwon was really interesting as the first 6 holes feel and play very different to the rest. Different parts of the property and a sterner test on the back. I was one under through 3 and then got a solid kicking all the way in. Great course though.

We also played 13th Beach and Curlewis while we were down there - tons of great golf to be had. Enjoy the trip!

What are your dates for the Barnbougle rounds? Might be able to make a drive up from Hobart if I get my credits lined up early enough…

I like Barwon, but have never played well there. Lonsdale is a very nice track but I wasn’t overly impressed by the condition on the day I was there so am going to go again when the weather warms up. I got given a voucher for Curlewis - really looking forward to getting out there, everything i’ve heard is its a great course.

Have booked NZ (Queenstown) for next year, 5 days 4 games

My comparatively humble trip in 3 months:

Metropolitan
Victoria
Huntingdale
RM East
Sandy - Fri 4 Nov evening TBC, all welcome!
Yarra Yarra, or Woodlands as backup (Cranbourne back up to those)

I originally planned Rosebud & St Andrews Beach but I’ll prefer getting a better feel for Melbourne, not checking out of multiple hotels & not lugging my bag around. Gives me more time to do a Great Ocean Road coach tour & see an A League game as well. I’ll do Albert Park Parkrun too if anyone’s into that.

Swap out Huntingdale for any other sandbelt course or PK and that’s a nice little trip.

What’s a Sandy?
Excuse my ignorance.

The redesigned (by OCM) Sandringham public course next to Royal Melb. Good, but 3rd tier sandbelt.
