Agreed. The new Sandy is terrific.
Anyone know what they are charging for Green Fee’s?
I looked at playing there on a work trip at the start of this year and it was in the $55 ballpark midweek.
that’s decent! I think the Frog is around that on weekends
I love Vic more every time I play it.
For the record I got very lucky and drove the green and holed the putt last time on the first hole. That was after attempting it previously and never better than par!
This is sweet, and even if we don’t make the cut with numbers/logistics as an official 2022 Roost, would still be sick to try get some meet ups going in 2022 based off this and just meet some fellow nesticles and see what grows out of it
Hi everyone,
Just letting you know that the stocks are getting a little low heading in to Christmas and I won’t be getting another drop of product until the new year.
Caps, t-shirts and polos still looking pretty strong and especially if you are a medium sized golfer…
Couple of nice ladies caps and a small hoodie if you’re in that market too.
Also got the facebook site and instagram shop back going after I sold a kidney to Zuckerberg, so we are back in the game there too!
Enjoy

I’ve got my 40th coming up in late September next year and around that time my wife will be shooting a wedding in Melbourne. Hoping to get over for a week & leverage the birthday into a couple of good rounds of golf. Be sweet to meet up with some Refugees/Nesticles.
Is this their ‘Best Courses in Aus’ list? reason I ask is I saw another one that was public access courses and Barwon Heads was on that - and if that’s a true public course then I’m a 15 time major winner.
I’ve played 11 on there, including the top 5, and I think they are all outstanding, amazing courses - would I change the order? maybe Lost Farm above Dunes (as ive always come off the course feeling better after playing, Dunes has hit me hard a couple of times)
So, got to ask, Lonsdale Links - I’m gonna go play it next week - but everyone I’ve talked to who has played it, no one has ever claimed its top 25 in the country. Anyone here got an opinion on it?
Initial thoughts:
- big improvements by Doak at Yarra Yarra well rewarded
- the new Gunnamatta (again Doak) is very good but I think enters a little too high
- Lonsdale Links (OCM) is very good, but is still very new and maybe doesn’t quite yet deserve it’s current position (it will soon though)
Overall, I find it difficult to take issue with this list. Golf Australia’s judging panel is well-credentialed and they have a more flexible set of criteria than GD, whose list is due around March. It will be interesting, as always, to compare the lists.
Great. Am constructing a late 2022 or early 2023 trip.
Any chance you could post 26-100?
I dont have it but I will look.
I’d probably add Glenelg and the Dunes to that list in place of Lonsdale and Barwon Heads/National Old Course. Though there’s not much in it. Yarra Yarra is better than Metro imho and I would put Kingston Heath above both courses at Barnbougle. Other than that it looks a pretty bog standard list.
Also, I can highly recommend staying in Brighton / Brighton East for anyone planning a trip to Melbourne. It’s about 15 mins drive to the big sandbelt courses, has great restaurants / cafes etc. beautiful leafy suburb and the beach is nice. I just spent 11 days here with my family (to escape my parents and in laws):
I’m biased as hell, but disagree re National Old - I actually think it should be lower, I struggle to see how the Moonah is ranked lower. While thrilled the Gunnamatta is 8, I can see @oldmannoodles’s point - I think some people think its too ‘easy’, but I think its a brilliant bit of design and from the blacks it totally changes
I think we’re confusing our ‘lowers’ and ‘highers’. I think National Old is the lesser course when compared to the Moonah and most recent lists have reflected this.
And in relation to the Gunnamatta, I would describe it as more playable and enjoyable compared to the other two rather than ‘easy’. It is a brilliant design, agreed, but I think the novelty factor has helped it to no.8. No way it should be above NSW.
Just my opinions of course!
On both counts, you’ve found the way to my heart. God bless you.
Same. Dec 22 / Jan 23 trip hopefully, fingers crossed
Does the Template Holes aspect to Lonsdale pump it up the list so high as a first entry? I had fun there, despite the course beating me over the head, fun land movement and the chance for some good hero shots. But, landing Top 20 in the country is a big call.
