haha. chatted with DBD about it yesterday - not off the cards but might be more feasible for 2023 - also might need to be Australia wide due to number of nest members etc
I’m keen if you go Australia wide. I’m on the Gold Coast
Be interested to know how many nest members there are Australia wide
Less than 10 over here in the West I believe. Though I do play with two guys who were on here pre-Nest. Feels like away games might be tough for us.
Wonder if there’s a clever way to structure it to make it manageable - i.e. hold the minimum three events a year but those three are in destination places… reckon its worth sending a link around for people to at least register interest?
Edit: I’ve created a spreadsheet to gauge interest anyway -
Certainly can’t hurt to put the feelers out. Have added my details, let me know if there’s anything I can (attempt to) help out with.
Also added my details - pretty sure NLU has the details of how many Aussie Nest members there are - there was the survey last year (which I missed completing) which gave the breakdown of where members are.
I have put my details in there too, and very happy to coordinate a Barnbougle leg to the journey.
Will obviously have plenty of NLU kit on hand to help back it up!
FYI there is a 20% off all sales over $100 at craftgolf.com.au until December 10th to get everyone sorted for Christmas.
I also feel like the Australian Roost name must incorporate a Kookaburra/Cockatoo/Emu reference…
eg
Cockatoo Down, two to play
Hi all ,
Hoping to be over in Australia for December 22/January 23 after not being able to get the wife back to Sydney for the last couple of years and planning a little trip with my BIL to Melbourne in and around the Sandringham area a la Tourist Sauce 1.
We have emailed Royal Melbourne and have the prices and details for that so that’s something we definitely want to play and then got Brighton GC, Cheltenham and St Andrews Beach pencilled in.
Don’t suppose there is any Refugees in and around the area of RMGC, Metropolitan, Kingston Heath etc that might be able to hook us up at some of the private/pricey places ?
Thanks
Good lord, cancel Brighton and Cheltenham immediately. As an international visitor you should be able to get on any of the top sandbelt courses.
Haven’t booked anything yet, just looking at a super rough itinerary for the area. But good knowledge to have in advance , thanks
Happy to get you on at the National - you can get on as an international guest but it’s about 3x the price
That would be amazing thank you.
Yes the prices for International guests at most of the courses is quite high, and was hoping between NLU Refugees and fellow RACDG members I might be able to get on some of the courses for a it less than book price but if not it is what it is I guess.
We only manage to get back to Australia once every few years and it’s usually Sydney so a bit of a change of pace to get out to Melbourne hopefully
Just shoot me a DM when you’ve got some dates and we’ll organise it
Dont pass on Sandringham as a public course - the photo’s ive seen make it look like a must play for us that cant play a Sandbelt on a regular basis.
Fully agree on skipping Cheltenham (have never played Brighton)
And while it may seem expensive coming from OS - its expensive here for non members and if you don’t have contacts - I’m doing the Stay and Play package at Victoria in January - $900 for 2 nights and 3 games.
Will definitely do that. Thanks again.
This is one of the most pure golf experiences in the world and great value for what you’re paying.
The rooms are perfect for what you’re there for and the clubhouse is maybe my favourite on the Sandbelt. You’ll have a blast.
100% agree
This will be our 2nd year in a row doing this - the only 2 disappointing things were 1) only finding the billiard room on the 2nd night (may have been less sleep than there already was if we had found it earlier) and 2) having to wait another 12 months to play on that course again - it was my first time playing it and it was love at first sight - and would like it on the record - I have played the 1st hole 3 times and am currently 3 under on that hole
