Has anyone taken a day trip over to Nantucket to play Miacomet? Would take the high speed ferry from Hyannis, probably on a weekday. Any experience with getting an Uber from the dock to the course? Any info/tips is appreciated.
I used to live out there for a few years, when you get off the Hyline thereâs always a bunch of cabs lined up thatâs probably your best bet. Definitely a cart course, some of the holes are stretched pretty far apart (2 to 3 and 9 to 10 especially). They recently redid the restaurant out at the course which is really nice if youâre looking for lunch while youâre there.
Always jealous of anyone getting out there.
Iâd also say itâs worth a shot to call or if you are a member somewhere have your pro call Sankaty Head. Can play it before memorial/after Labor Day. Did this a few years ago and it was awesome. My only other tip would be to go to Cisco brewery after Miacomet. Itâs close by and very fun.
This is a must
Greetings from California⌠evaluating trips to take within the next 50 days. I am on the waitlist for Bandon Nov 1st⌠Eye Effing the hell out of New Zealand and Australia for the Winter as well⌠but some of you may recall I posted my hopes of an event at the Cape/Nantucket next year.
Question: How is the weather in that spot in the next 50 days? I checked weather.com⌠asking for the eye test.
Cape is usually warm enough to play through the end of the year, although youâll be wearing a wool cap, using hand warmers, and bundling up usually by mid November. October is typically quite pleasant with temps frequently getting into the high 50s / low 60s even in late October
Biggest challenge with cape / Nantucket in terms of comfort can be wind. 50 degree weather with 15-20 mph wind feels a lot colder than some 40 degree days
Interestingly the two most highly rated courses on the Cape remain open all year (unless there is snow on the ground) so the die hards do play 12 months per year
Seconding this. October is awesome here. I personally wouldnât fly all the way out here from California in November. The courses will be open but it will be a ghost town at most places (night life etc) especially on Nantucket. Happy to host you at Willowbend either way!
Which ones?
I believe Eastward Ho! is one
EHo and Hyport are the best on the Cape. Not sure there is much debate about that. If you want to add Nantucket to the discussion there might be some competition.
@Double_Bogey_Dave - Eastward Ho! and Hyannisport stay open all year
Can the public get on them after a certain date?
I played Hyannisport a few years back in early Spring. I was blown out to sea that round. I swear some of my shots reached their apex and then started moving backwards. I would like to play the course again in more benign conditions so I could enjoy the golf and take in the great views, rather than keep my head down and hold on for dear life.
Unfortunately, no
Little Marion is open all year, as is (I believe) Highland.
I also hear Captains stays open year round.
