Roll Call: Massachusetts

Been a nest member for a while, but just exploring the refuge now. I live in the Newton area and play most of my golf at Putterham (AKA Brookline golf course, and like 5 other names). Looking forward to getting more involved here!

Has anyone here ever played in any of the New England Series events? They have one at Myopia this year, which is $280 plus the $135 membership fee - steep, but might be worth it for a one time thing.

All NES are already sold out and waitlist only. Myopia was sold out in about 10 min yesterday.

This is my first year doing it. Got on at 930 and got waitlisted for a couple of my choices including Worcester CC and Wannamoisett. Will be playing Warwick and Blue Hill. Planning on being ready right at 9am when the second half goes on sale.

Ahh, whoops! Next year I guess haha.

You can try Tour of Greater Boston as well if you are looking for a similar experience. No Myopia this year, but some other good private courses.

Looking to join a club down on the South Shore. Preferably no longer than a 20 min drive. Been looking at Halifax, anyone got thoughts?

I could join Ridder or Harmon but I’m guessing I’d get bored.

Where do you live? Halifax is pretty close to Plymouth CC which others have mentioned in this thread. Also some of the others you mentioned are fairly close to Brockton, Thorny Lea has some good membership categories. Opinions are mixed on the course but I really liked it.

I’m literally a block away from Strawberry Valley so I’m the middle of a lot of stuff. But I don’t want to drive both ways a half hour.

Google maps says SV is 14 mins away from Thorny. Worth taking a drive and/or reaching out for pricing structure. I think I also have it lying around somewhere if you want to DM me.

Myopia is on the schedule for the Tour of Greater Boston. Aug 2. They also have Yale but that is unconfirmed. Wannamoisett is there too.

Ah cool. Must have missed it in my scroll.

The most dangerous course in America

Haven’t played many courses with only a 7i and a putter before, but this one is an architect’s dream.

I was in 9 fairway once down probably 50 yards from the green and it felt like I was in WW2. Balls were raining down around me like artillery.

@JShaw Kind off like West Bridgewater? Felt like I was going to die there last week on the front 9

Strawberry Valley is about 100x tighter than WB which is scary to think about. Legitimate life threatening situation there, don’t recommend it.

Forewarned!

Take a look!
