Roll Call: Massachusetts

Both places I have played have been doing 10 minute intervals instead of 15 but otherwise following the rules.

My office league starts Wednesday. The majority of the players are crusty Boomers, so we will see how they do with the rules. We have tee times but typically it’s a big cluster at 1 tee and 4somes fight to go out first if their match is ready and the match on the sheet has a guy running behind.

DM me

Drove by President’s around noon today. I’d be shocked if they were doing 15 min tee times since there was a group on 1 and another group on 2 just about to tee off. Saw a couple carts out there too. I didn’t really expect anything different from Pres, but that’s a fairly busy street that runs by 1 & 2 and I don’t want golf being ruined because courses can’t follow/enforce pretty straightforward guidelines

Right now I am attributing this to growing pains and inability for organizations to change. If this is still happening in a few weeks we might have a problem.

For now I am being optimistic they can figure this out.

Im new to the Refuge and a City of Boston Golf permit holder (past 4 years). Anybody else on here regularly play George Wright? I played GW and FP last weekend and things seemed fine with adherence to safety rules.

Used to play it all the time, but now that I live In Connecticut I only get there a few times a year. It’s probably my favorite local course.

I’ve got a 2019 blue Ping Moonlite carry bag that I am trying to get rid of. Used it exactly once, so it’s like new. Unstructured, 2.5 pounds, made of a water resistant material so no need to worry about putting it on the ground during when conditions are wet. Fits 14 clubs without too much tangle.

Looks like this. Yours for $90. DM me if interested.

I’m playing there tomorrow afternoon. They had online tee times scheduled in the 15 minute increments so I’ll be curious to see how the pace of play/spacing is after what you saw today.

I am playing at GW on Sunday. I am glad they are following the rules. I hope to be out of there in less than 5 hours so I can watch the end of the skins game.

@anon26814599 Could I get in on the boston groupchat?

Yes. George Wright definitely does a club championship and inter club matches are up and running now via the leagues (tee times from 8am-10am weekends). The leagues are hard to get into though, and not being able to hang around the club house to chat right now doesnt help. I know Franklin Park has leagues too, but dont know as much about them.

I’m considering heading to MA in a few weeks. Are courses open to non-residents? I’m aware of the 15 minutes between tee times, paying online etc. Just wondering if I would be allowed to play per the MA rules as they stand.

Nope, no restrictions on out of state golfers in Mass. Don’t try to stop and play in New Hampshire, Rhode Island or Maine, though.

Non-Member play at Taconic open as of this Saturday!, one guest per member per day, one unique guest per month (as in one round per guest per month)

I’ve got a question for the group in 2 parts.

  1. Is Granite Links with the moneys? It is 150 for a peak rate round, which seems crazy given it is built on big dig fill.

  2. Is Granite Links better than George Wright? Them are rated the best two public courses inside 128.

Chum for the Masshole crowd

Not worth it in absence of Crossing Nines running at quasi-normal operations

Granite Links is not worth $150.

Can you play during the week? If possible, wait for a few more weeks until sunset is at its latest. Book a 4pm tee time for $75. Show up at 3:30 and they’ll let you off early most likely.

Granite Links is not better than George Wright. It is a novelty course with good views. Not challenging, boring design, and not worth even $75.
