To close the loop on this, hosting @NickyFlagsticks and @cfpriest18 at Thorny Lea on Juneteenth at 7:00 am if anyone wants to grab the last spot.
Iāll get in on this
Scrolling through the names signed up for BTS Summer Solstice Day at Marion and seeing @lazyjk listed
I will be there! Iām doing a whirlwind trip to play all the New England states Thurs-Sun and @ThatDuffGuyPat gave me a heads up about Marion. Iāll be in Hartford that morning and going to the Travelers for a few hours but then headed over and hoping to grab 2-3 afternoon/evening loops!
Nice, Iāll be there most of the day so hoping we can play together once again!
That solstice event at Marion is the best
Wish I could make it happen this year but youāll all have a blast. Got 54 holes in last year. One guy had 90!
I think I did 54 last year too. Iām hoping for the same this year, but have to drive up to NH that afternoon, so weāll see.
Hi All!
Iāve lurked on here for a bit and followed NLU for years but never officially checked in, so wanted to introduce myself! I live in Watertown and play mostly in the greater Boston area but am always down to drive for rounds/events. Looking forward to getting more involved and meeting some new folks. Thanks!
Great playing together during the solstice. I think this link should work to the discord:
Great playing with you as well!! Thanks so much for sharing this!
Travelling to Boston August 15th-19th with the wife. She told me to bring the clubs so figured Id hop in here and look for some course recommendations or playing partners because I havenāt been to the city since 2004. Food recommendations welcomed as well.
Im planning on taking that Monday the 18th off on the back end of a vacation so count me in. Monday/Tuesday rounds at George Wright arenāt too difficult to get either
Iām an hour north of the city but would be down to play.
As far as food recs go, are you staying in the actual city? What neighborhood? Canāt ever go wrong with going to the North End. Make sure to hit Modern Pastry up (or Boboās) for some great dessert options
Seaport is a crazy popular area now. Grill 23 is my favorite āclassicā steakhouse vibe
Tuesday shouldnāt be an issue. Monday can be tougher because they have outings quite a bit on Mondays.
Let me check with the wife on what day sheād rather me play because sge wants to make a drive into Maine to see some friends of hers.
Hey gang,
The time has come to sign up for our Roost Major for 2025 - the Marathon at Met Links.
Date: August 16th, shotgun start at 9 AM
Where: Met Links in Providence
What: 27 holes (back tee, middle tee, front tees)
Cost: $50 entry fee paid to me for lunch, swag and charity donation. $75 for golf, another $25 if you take a cart.
Prize: 1 spot in the NIT, prize pack, various other goodies (my nice way of saying I am still working on this).
Charity: Once again, we will be benefitting the Confetti Foundation and we will again be collecting card donations (more on this later).
Sign up on the sheet below and, as always, please just sign up yourselves for this first week to give Nest and Roost members first dibs. After that time, feel free to open it up to any friends who may want to join us.
Iāve got room for a 4th at Black Swan on Sunday at 9:18 if anyone is interested - I will provide a gift bag of random merchandise as a show of appreciation
Hey all, I will be in Boston next week for work and trying to squeeze a round of golf in somewhere. Iāll be working and staying in Woburn. Monday will be a travel day for me, with Tuesday and Wednesday being full work days. Thursday is probably a half day and then travel home.
Iām thinking of taking an earlier flight on Monday, grabbing a rental car, and heading directly to a course. Any recommendations where I should play? I only know of George Wright, so that is currently at the top of my list but itās in the opposite direction of Woburn. Not a deal-breaker for me, I wonāt have anything else to do, but wanted to see if there were other options that would make sense. Thanks!
I havenāt played it yet this year, but Butter Brook in Westford is usually my go-to recommendation for courses north of the city (probably like 20-25 min from Woburn).
Hickory Hill isnāt bad either-that is close to the NH border but is a pretty decent value IMO.
George Wright is still the cream of the crop in terms of public golf in and around the city.
The one piece of foolproof advice for any tourists (and locals) is to avoid Granite Links like the plague.
