Roll Call: Massachusetts

No set format - can be anything both parties agree to (gross/net/quota/matchplay) and for any number of points. As long as you announce somewhere - here, on the BTP Discord, shoot me a DM or email - before the balls are in the air you’re good to go. It would be ideal to have at least one BTPer there to referee but if the schedule doesn’t allow for it, so be it. (But in thinking about it, for next season - which starts in 3 weeks after the June event - I’m going to add a rule about number of points you can wager if there is no third party, just to keep things on the up-and-up.) Main thing is to get people playing golf together.

Also a member of Philly’s roost who is not active on the Refuge, wanted me to pass this message along:

“My name is Alex. Just wanted to give the New England Roost a heads up that a buddy and I are spending the MDW up in Boston area but first playing Taconic at 2:10pm Friday. We have 2 spots open so I wanted to contact you to help throw any feelers out there.

We’re also looking to play Saturday AM in the Boston area before the Sox game so if anyone is looking to fill a foursome…”

If anyone wants that spot at Taconic or can help with a Saturday tee time, shoot me a message and I will connect you to Alex.

Planning a friend’s bachelor party. Looking to play Sunday on the way out of the cape. Best options seem like one of the Yarmouth courses. Any input on Bass River vs Bayberry? I know Bass River is a Donald Ross but I’m not sure if anyone besides me in the group would care about that.

I played Bayberry LY and really enjoyed it. Haven’t got to Bass River though.

I’ve played both a bunch of times, both really enjoyable courses and different. I favor Bass River more than Bayberry but can’t go wrong with either. Bayberry also has another 9 if you wanna do a 27 day

Haven’t played Bayberry in years but I play Bass River 2-3 times every summer. It’s a fun, scoreable track that could be really nice if they invested anything in it.

Letting you all know: if you signed up for our event at Quinney, Luke (our host) was able to expand our field to 24, so if you were on the alternate list you’re most likely in!

Booked a parent’s special: 9:10AM at Pinehills, Jones course. 2 spots open, play after drop-off and be home for pick-up!

Hey all – new to the Nest. Born and raised in Massachusetts (presently in Dorchester). Hoping to meet some good people who love the game and expand playing partners. My wife and I are expecting our first in September so also trying to play as much as possible before fatherhood comes for my game.

If there is anything needed to officially join the Roost, let me know. Looking forward to getting and staying involved.

Mike

Good morning All,

I am another native Masshole recently returned to Providence from the ‘Splash of OJ’ roost down in FLA.

Hoping to #getinvolved in the local roost.

This is a hyper Massachusetts story, but could be a wild summer with the real-life Succession plot playing out at Market Basket. Possibly the only thing that could push the Karen Read trial to the back pages.

Saw someone with this bumper sticker yesterday and just thought what an absurdly specific thing to put on your car

Or just the people who hang out on the overpasses. I played a long round of golf and saw the same exact people 5 hours later.

Yeah I’ve been pretty locked into the Market Basket story since my club (Indian Ridge) is actually owned by the corporation.

Lots of rumors among the member base…

I know a couple people pretty high up in corporate. Across the board seem to side with Artie T but also say that the claims made aren’t completely unfounded.

I always forget about the MB/Indian Ridge connection haha.

MB is one of my biggest customers, I do not need another employee walkout / customer strike circa 2014!

But also I’m here for it.

Former Masshole here, current Cheese-Head in the Wisconsin Supper Club Roost.

I’m going to be in the Plymouth area in July for our annual golf trip 7/24-7/26. We usually just go out for rounds on our own or with a could friends of ours, but this year we want to find a fun tournament to play in. Any kind of team format would be awesome.

Does anyone know of any organized scrambles/best ball or something like that on those days around the area? Tried looking for events here in the nest, but nothing really popped up immediately.
