Interesting thanks, I loved Willowbend when I got out there. It costs more than the Cape Cod hospital benefit at Eastward Ho (which is my personal favorite) so I guess I’m struggling with that.
That sounds like it could be pretty pricey, then. My experience was also tinged by the fact that I played with guys I really like and we had a great day, so who knows.
Royal and Ancient Chappaquiddick sounds like a blast. I tried calling the number on their website and couldn’t get through. Any advice for getting a hold of them?
I think when I went last year we made the tee time online. They’re extremely casual and I remember having to call them a couple times to make sure they were actually going to come get us off the ferry.
Best public courses near Stoughton, MA? Asking for a friend.
DW Field in Brockton.
Norton CC (45ish) is really good. Agree w DW.
Ponkapoag in Canton has an incredible layout but conditions are meh. Brookmeadow in Canton is in good shape but layout is meh.
+1 on DW - I play it all the time and it’s a terrific and affordable muni.
-100 on Ponky. Conditions are embarrassing. Owned by DCR and the state simply does not care.
It’s gotten worse? Tbh I haven’t played it since like 2017. It was never good but I loved the layout. It’s a shame someone w $ doesn’t scoop it. It’s a fantastic property if someone dumped some money into it
I played it end of 2022 and there were greens with bare patches right in the middle.
That’s disappointing. I used to love getting over there for twilight.
Brookmeadow as well as DW previously mentioned.
I’ll be in Plymouth for 5 days in early July for a large family reunion. My brother and I can probably sneak away from the big family for one round. Was thinking Crosswinds, which I’ve played a few times and loved. Seems like excellent value for $67 midweek. But should we consider paying a bit more for Waverly Oaks or someplace else? Atlantic?
Also, any cheap 9 hole munis nearby if we wanted to do a big family scramble with like 12-16 cousins/aunts/uncles? We did this last year at Marion, and it was a blast.
I’d steer clear of Waverly. Even during the week, it’s overpriced. It’s not significantly better than Crosswinds ans is way more money. I like Atlantic, but it’s not quite as nice as Crosswinds. Plymouth doesn’t have any munis, but the closest thing that could be good for a big scramble situation is probably Squirrel Run. Or if you wanted to drive a little farther, North Hill in Duxbury is 9 holes. It’s not easy but it’s fun.
Thanks, sounds like sticking with Crosswinds is the play. I realized that Marion is only 36 min from our place in Plymouth, so really we could head back there again for the scramble too. Will check out Squirrel Run and North Hill though.
Marion is way better than Squirrel Run and North Hill is cool, too. But Squirrel Run would be better for folks who don’t play much.
It’s even fun for avid players. Nothing wrong w trying to go low as hell sometimes!
Marion’s pro shop is also busting with incredible stuff at the moment. They had a themed Jones Rover bag and cooler for sale.
We bought this sign though:
The alt wall logo is so good.
I could’ve spent so much money in that pro shop last week. Luckily I was too tired.
