Roll Call: Massachusetts

Uh oh. Got a VT>ME beer take… not sure how our Maine Brewing connoisseur is going to feel about this. I guess I will have to try both and report back.

Nothing wrong with Burlington, and there is certainly plenty of good beer up in VT, but Portland is an hour closer to Boston, on the coast, and has a great restaurant scene in addition to multiple great breweries. Personally I enjoy Bissell Bros. over anywhere in VT with the possible exceptions of Hill Farmstead, which (as far I know) is really only available on draft unless you go way out of your way.

Brother there is so much good beer in New England as a whole that I cannot gatekeep!

Hill Farmstead/Alchemist/Burlington Beer/Foam are all excellent in Vermont (just to mention a few). I’m honestly biased towards a few places in Portland/Freeport only because they’re my favorites.

Hahhaa very very subjective. I 100% agree Portland is a better weekend destination for all the above reasons. Altho don’t sleep on Burlington especially if you like skiing and hiking and really good restaurants as well. Personally i prefer alchemist, foley bros, burlington beer co over bissel but definitely subjective and bissel is greatness. If I had to end myself with 6 hours at a bar with all variety of world class beer i would choose Burlington. If my wife and I were going away for a weekend i would chose Portland 10 out of 10 times. That’s like my opinion.

Also Hill Farmstead deserved mention there…that’s a great weekend adventure and double citra would by my #1 beer of all time.

Austin street is great. Love the Patina Pale Ale. Grab some every time I see it.

New to the board. Grew up playing public golf all around Boston - Ponkie, Presidents, George Wright, etc. Now play at Indian Pond Country Club in Kingston. Happy to host a few groups when we reopen. We may even get the controversial 15th hole reopened this year! :confounded:

Welcome friend! You’ll find a really great group of people on the refuge and I would love to take you up on that offer once the weather gets far out of the single digits

Putting out the beacon for Friday golf, what courses are open this week with a beautiful 56 degree day on the horizon that I can go shake some rust off at?

Depending on where you live, I think some options would be Olde Scotland Links in Bridgewater, Ridder Farm in Whitman, Green Harbor in Marshfield.

Brookside Club in Bourne is fully open year round and has been in great condition considering it’s the middle of winter.
