Roll Call: Maryland

Hey everyone! Slightly new here, my name is Luke and I am a member of Crofton CC and live on the course. I hover around 7-9 HCP but had a tough year this year. Started at 7, ended at 9.

I grew up in Chase and Rocky Point was my home course. A lot of great memories there!

Good to see the we local course chat! I work from home so I am always looking to get out. Unfortunately it might have to be post pandemic as homeschooling and wife working from home is currently kicking my ass.

Hello to all!

Welcome! I’m also new here. I grew up in Crofton (Crofton Woods), and unfortunately I didn’t play golf growing up so my Crofton CC experience is limited to the pool and snack bar. I’m currently in College Park but often find myself looking at houses for sale on Crofton Parkway. Hoping to tee it up there next year!

I’ve played Crofton cc a few times. I’ve always enjoyed that course, nice to live right there, welcome!

Used to live about 10 mins from there. It’s where I took my boys to learn to play in the evenings. Great course for what it is.

Hit me up if you want to come play

They’ve hosted a bunch of US Open/Am local qualifiers at CCC, right?

I know for sure they are big into high school events. I am not 100% sure on the others. I am fortunate to see it all on the 7th fairway! image|666x500

First group out at royal Manchester yesterday for what I hope was the coldest round of the winter. Course was surprisingly well-drained considering the overnight rainfall. Got around in ~3 hrs, but left 3 balls in the pond on 18 after a perfect drive. Wind was howling most of the day.

Big fan of Royal Manchester. That place is a beast when the wind is a factor

Huge difference playing that course from the blues vs. whites too. Love playing the blue/white mix.

Hi everyone I am Thomas and I live in Columbia. I mostly play at Fairway Hills and Timbers. For the past two years, my buddy and I have played in the Fairway Hils Monday night twilight league. But this past year I was able to play- Rocky Point, Forest Park (shout-out Strapped), Northwest, Compass Pointe, Diamond Ridge, Links at Challedon, Willow Springs, Gunpowder, Sligo Creek, and Waverly Woods. I am hoping I can get out to Whiskey Creek, Bulle Rock, and MD National next year.

Welcome! Those 3 on your 2021 list are all great. I’d add Musket Ridge, P.B. Dye, and Worthington Manor in addition to Whiskey and MD National. The Frederick area is a treasure trove of good golf.

What did you think of the Links at Challedon? It’s been on my list for a while but I haven’t had the chance to make it out there.

The Links at Challedon was descent. I was in the middle of my regular mid-Summer slump, so I didn’t play that great. But I would like to play it again. When I played the course was in good shape and had some cool holes.

I’m in the New Market (eastern Frederick Co) area. Challedon is good, they just went under new ownership and prices are a bit high for the course IMO. Whiskey Creek is my favorite course in the area as is Worthington. Both never seem to disappoint even with a higher greens fee it’s worth it. Haven’t played MD National yet, but would love to.

The Severna Park Golf Center is good and apparently just added some trackman and screens to some of the hitting bays. They have a heated section as well for the winter. I haven’t been since the improvements but have heard good things.

Arundel Golf Park by BWI is good as well and has a ton of hitting bays. Heated lower level for the winter.

One of my offices is close Arundel Golf Park, I’m over there pretty often during the week, heated bays and automatic ball feeders/tees. The balls are kinda beat up, but it’s decent. I’m hoping to go down to Severna Park soon to use one of those trackman bays, used to hit that par 3 course pretty often when I used to work in Annapolis.

Welcome. I’d add Greystone to your list. It’s a great course for a muni. Although don’t be above the hole on 9.

Compass Point has a nice range and two practice putting greens.

Has anyone been to iGolf72 before?

I have not been, but it’s just down the road from my house. Would definitely be curious to hear feedback from anyone who has been there as well.
