Roll Call: L.A. County (Rustic Canyon and the Coachella Valley are not in L.A. County)

Interesting story about tee time brokers. I’m sorry you guys have to deal with this shit. Brokers are buying up precious tee times at L.A. city golf courses. Golfers are desperate and outraged

Greetings! Traveling down to Ojai with a few RACDG NorCalers this weekend for regionals and have 2 spots at Soule Park:

Friday 7/19 - 3:00 pm ($29)
Saturday 7/20 - 1220 pm

Ping me if you’d like to join some rad folks.

I received this email earlier this week. I guess good news??

I doubt it - no one is going to cancel so you will never see anything pop up around a day out.

Edit - the 4 pt font on the email was a nice touch.

Hello friends. Naive Nebraskan here, tagging along to the wife’s tax conference by Crypto arena this week. Looking to play one or twice midweek. Curious if rustic or the Griffith park courses have singles queues like San Clemente does? Damn the teetime bots to hell.

The City courses typically have a singles queue. The earlier you get there the better your chances (or maybe it just takes a $20 handshake to get your name to the top of the list, who could say?). Griffith Park has two courses so your odds would be better than going all the way out to Rustic. If you only have time for 9 holes give Roosevelt a shot. It is a cool setting on the Observatory side of Griffith Park.

There are usually some cancelations 1-2 days out mid week at rustic if you keep an eye on the online tee sheet. It is a trek out there but definitely worth it.

Wilson/harding is a lot closer to downtown/crypto if that’s where you are staying with your wife for the conference.

Hello all. I’m new to the Nest and live in the San Gabriel valley. How do I get involved with a roost?

Hey y’all, I live in San Diego and will be heading up to LA for a weekend at the end of February. I’m looking to book a Saturday round for myself and two buddies. I golf regularly, but my two friends do not. Any advice on which courses to look into? I would prefer to play 18 holes of a full course, but it doesn’t need to be super nice. Mainly looking for a spot that I’ll have a good time at and my friends won’t hate life for 4-5 hours.

Where in LA will you be? Sort of important.

Gut instinct is one of the muni’s Harding or Wilson. It’s hard to get a weekend time, but it can be done.

Close to downtown. But we’re very flexible. Might try and cruise up Friday and then get an afternoon Friday tee time if that would be easier.

Scholl canyon, Brookeside, Wilson & Harding, Roosevelt . all are near’ish to downtown and would be fine for people who don’t golf. But like @alightpainter mentioned, getting a tee time will be the hardest part.

The muni’s at Encino, Balboa and Woodley Lakes are easier courses but a little further, especially if you’re at all east of downtown.

Santa Anita is really fun in Arcadia, Hansem Dam in Pacoima could be a good option too.
