Not sure how far south? Heritage Hill is incredibly close to I-65 and is pure.

Hello Kentuckians,

Dropping through with a overnight stay in Lexington with the wife on our way further south.

Whatcha got to eat and/or drink in the downtown area?

I really like OBC kitchen. A little drive from downtown. But Malones/drakes/OBC kitchen combo is good off Tates creek rd.

Nice dinner? Quick lunch? Casual dinner? What are you looking for?

Decent dinner that we won’t need to change into nice clothes for.

I live in Knoxville now, but the Mussel Burger Bar over in JTown is an absolute winner. It’s a little outside of downtown, but everything is in general. In my 14 years living there, I didn’t spend much time downtown.

always loved Joe Bolognas. Giant breadsticks, pizza, pasta, beer, you name it.

A few areas worth hitting - the distillery district, (https://www.lexingtondistillerydistrict.com/), multiple bars and restaurants check to see what’s open first. Second is the Jefferson street - area up near sixth and jefferson, west sixth brewery and smithtown or county club (smoked meats), this is all about a mile from the center of town. I’m downtown proper you have the old courthouse and Tandy plaza area this is near upper street and main. Across the street the new restaurant in the hotel, Harvey’s bar, luna’s is a cool little oasis with food truck options. Downtown near main and broadway is Victorian square, a ton of spots in there you can see them all along the main and broadway frontages. Finally there are always good spots along North Limestone, start at Main Street and walk north 2-3 blocks and there should be 4-5 good spots there. If you go south you will be going toward campus and the joe Bologna’s area some solid food that way also.

If you want to impress your wife, Kentucky Native Cafe (if the weather is good) is literally the most charming spot in Kentucky. Make sure they are open and get there at a decent time to get a spot it’s all outdoors.

Good luck.

Grabbed a generic hotel near the Distillery District, looks like a nice place to explore for a few hours.

Thanks!

Local Taco on S Limestone right next to campus.

Just make sure you get an Ale-8 (Kentucky’s ginger ale) while you’re in town.

Have a 3 some heading to sweetens from Michigan. Looking to play this friday the 19th on the way down. Any recommendations or anyone who wants to play let me know! Louisville/bowling green area early afternoon.

Heritage Hill in Shepherdsville just off 65 is a good track at good value.

Yeah, coming down 65 and staying pretty close to the route, Heritage Hill is probably the best decision. Champions Pointe is in Indiana just before you get to Louisville and it is a solid choice. Around Bowling Green I haven’t heard of much in the public world outside of Kenny Perry’s course, but thats just because its right off the interstate. It’s nothing special and HH would be a better choice. I like Seneca as far as municipals go in Louisville, but they are so busy it would be hard to say for sure your round would take 4 hours and what not.
If you have access to privates at all let us know and we can make some recommendations along those lines. Public golf within Louisville can be a tough scene. Most of the good land or great conditions are outside of town. Lots more to choose from in Indianapolis.

Live in Kentucky. Happy to be here

Welcome, I live in Knoxville now, but will always lurk in this thread.

Any interest in the Roost concept from the locals in here? Seems like numbers aren’t huge, and I’m in the Louisville area, but as a state maybe we hit some of the numbers. If not maybe we try to hook up with Tennessee/Nashville or Ohio/Cincy for now. I’m open to running it for us, we just need the numbers!

I would definitely be interested in joining!
Louisville as well here. I would think we would have plenty of members if it was a golden triangle (Lou-Lex-Cin) geofenced Roost.

i’m interested but in bowling green so it would make more sense for me to join up with nashville

I’m in Lexington and would be down for the Roost.

I’d have no problem traveling to the different areas since only an hour maybe hour fifteen from each.
