Swope is gonna stay open during the lockdown?
It only took a global pandemic to improve swope’s pace of play lol.
We received an email stating that if we need anything out of the bag room or locker rooms it needs collected today. Golf course operation will continue but there will be no access to the clubhouse.
Sounds like the “social distancing” meetup can commence
Blue Hills is the same.
No carts but can still play at the Deuce. @KC_Badger and I walked it in 3.5.
Great Life stuff is staying open with no carts. That seems like as good as closed for how cart-ball some of those places are. Can’t imagine anyone’s gonna wanna walk Canyon Farms or Prairie Highlands.
i would walk anything – what else do we have to do? but given the fact that i would then be gone for 5+ hours the wife may kill me…
So after getting an email that GL courses are all going to longer intervals between tee times, not renting carts, and not letting people hang out after rounds, I saw all three happening at Prairie Highlands today. If golf gets 100% shut down at some point, that’s why.
Tough scene. We have been social distancing pretty well at the deuce.
It surprised me because it’s been good at Falcon Ridge and Canyon Farms (which is a biiiitch of a walk).
RT X 2000. If sykes/lady dumped some money into the course, removed some trees I think it could be the one
contemplating these cheap walking rates at Swope for tomorrow. Anyone have a report on course condition?
I walked Prairie last week and it wasnt too bad. took 3.5 hrs, and that was waiting on almost every shot. Old guys in carts when its cart path only is brutal. Canyon and Falcon would def be tougher.
Its in good shape. Played yesterday.
Well guis, I have changed my opinion on whether courses should remain open.
I played 9 today, and my goodness… while the club is trying to help people socially distance by taking the touch points away, Many in the membership do not seem to give a hoot.
I saw multiple people pulling flagsticks. Groups are supposed to be capped at 4, but I saw a sevensome and a sixsome. I saw a group still do a round of handshakes on 18. What the hell people. Decorum and etiquette are out the window. If people don’t start taking this stuff more seriously, I don’t see how we can let people congregate on a golf course.
Not to mention that now that ball washers And coolers are gone, what is the primary way people will wash their ball? (I’m guilty as well). Spit in your towel and remove the mud. Then you hole out your ball, where everyone else has done the same! Not great.
Some same things happening at my club. Hopefully people can stop being idiots.
I usually clean my ball with a towel doused in water from my water bottle.
Yes, but now the water coolers are gone… so that leaves you to either spit or you’re thirsty. Sucks.
The situation at Swope was a whole different story. No big groups, everyone keeping their distance. And no one touching the flags, etc. I thought it was very safe.
