We went to Show Pony a couple weeks ago on a Friday night and it was really good. It’s the new place in the hotel right by the Current stadium and a sister concept to a place in Lexington. We split the short rib and it was perfect. I just hope they make it through this interim period before the streetcar is operating up that way. It wasn’t very busy.
Does anyone happen to know if the most recent iteration of Hillcrest golf course (when it was public in the last cpl years) had any “members” or season pass holders?
Long story but the LinksDAO group that’s partnering with Rob is strangely claiming that “existing Hillcrest members” are getting 50% off initiation.
Which seemed weird to me, wasn’t it most recently a $35-$45 daily fee public?
Checking the internet archives, the last time they advertised any kind of membership on their website was back when they were doing the greatlifekc memberships in 2019:
That link would just bring you to the greatlifekc website where they had that 17 course membership for $180/month (fuck GreatLife still and all, but damn that ride was fun while it lasted).
Maybe they had some membership that wasn’t advertised on their website? Also, wouldn’t surprise me if they had a handful of members that were grandfathered in from however long ago and they never gave it up and they are giving them a “deal” of half off initiation.

What do you guys know about GolfTRK? My future brother in law is looking at potentially getting involved in a franchise in the Des Moines area. I figured since a KC thing you guys might know more about them. Thanks!

Unfortunately, yes. I think their days of destroying golf courses are over though. But I still won’t give them any of my money if I don’t have too

Very much alive in SE SD and squeezing every possible cent out of everyone that’s bound to them 
They have a plan to somewhat blow up some of my local club for housing, can’t say anyone is thrilled or on board with their desires
I wouldn’t be so sure about that. Unless you mean that they have already deteriorated the courses they planned to and now they will just keep them limping along in their shabby state.

While the GreatLife topic is relevant. Here is an email Greatlife Topeka members received last year. To try and recruit people to build houses on what would be a fake grass country club? A coworker of mine lives on Deer Trail (shown in the pic), and contrary to their statement, if you can imagine they have done zero maintenance and upkeep of the current defunct course that the land sits on now.

Hadn’t see anyone comment on the layout in the golf digest article from last month when LinksDao bought into Hillcrest. It looks a bit different from the layout they had in that pitch deck from last summer.
Main difference is the addition of the 12th hole par 3 in place of the 14th hole par 3. The 15th is routed quite a bit differently too. Front 9 looks unchanged.
#1 is on this layout, but not part of the course. It also looks like the driving range is taking place of #2 and to the right of #2, which seems like an odd choice considering the land movement on that side of the property.

It looks like they are just taking the green and fairway from #1 and making it the chipping green and driving range tees, respectively. I know a few people don’t love getting rid of that hole, but I personally think that is the right call.
Also, had to go back and look at my post last year, but, damn, was I pretty close to what they ended up going with. Just ended up being 10, 11 ,12 and not 1, 2, 3.

They’ve destroyed the two they have down here in Wichita……maybe that’s aggressive……but they haven’t done anything to actually increase membership and bring down the median age….lets put it that way.

They have actively made Tallgrass worse and have not made willowbend any better, I would say that.

What’s the consensus on Tall grass? Every time I drive by the par 3 that borders 21st I’m amazed at the house encroachment. Small sample size I know but I just saw it again yesterday so at the top of my mind lol
