Sounds like it’s time to right that wrong. My normal pro-tip would be order online and cruise in and pickup to skip all the waiting in line stuff, but you should do it at least once to get thru and see all the meat options and talk to the guy serving the bbq meats. You will want to go earlier than later in the day because they do sell out of certain things everyday

What’s everyone’s opinion of this Roost bit the boys are repping?
I’m not sure we have the (committed) bodies to do it, if the number of participants in the Show-Me-Showdown event is any indication…
The apathy in KC for organized team golf is pulsating.

waiting to listen to the pod about the Roost before commenting. I don’t really know what’s required. It’s probably one of those things I’d love to do but never makes it to the top of the list.
Its an active group of golfers playing matches together within their roost to qualify for a “club/Roost championship” at end of year playing against 9 other regions in the US, Canada and the UK. Winning squad/roost is crowned the world champ.

I would be down. I live in Atchison but would be willing to make the trek. How often would it be? Would we rotate courses?

Personal experience that I was the only participant in the Show Me Showdown from metro KC. My partner was from like Stanley or something. This coming from MONTHS of hemming and hawing from several KC area people on here to do that match. Think of it that there were 6+ St. Louis people there and 1.5 KC people.
And that event, again, was transparently organized MONTHS in advance. If it’s not apathy preventing group or team golf here in KC, it very well may be arrogance.
I dunno. But I loved playing with several people around here at BCN over the years. Just doesn’t seem to be a lot of interest in TEAM match play events. Too much bad high school golf?

Yeah, I was in on the Showdown the entire time until the event was cancelled. I made plans for Sunday instead before it came back as an 8 man event. I see a lot of people show interest or say they are interested but when it comes time to show up I feel like we are lucky to get a foursome.

I’ve got three young kids so it’s hard for me to get out these days. I would like to play with this group sometime but not sure I’m interested or could even commit to a competitive golf situation. I’ve only played competitive golf once in my life and that was our Member/Member this summer. Or maybe I’m just having PSD from how I melted under the pressure at M/M.
I’m down to play in this thing. The traveling and stuff would be the hard stuff to commit to but I’d like to see a local NLU group that plays enough, so I’ll commit to the local participation now. We having a signup some place or is the rough headcount just taking place in this forum for now?
Some local events are probably what we need. Even if it starts small, one or two groups, if people see it’s fun and #getinvolved it makes a roost or a ryder cup or something like that even better. I also think having a little action for these events helps for competitive rounds down the road for folks who aren’t in leagues or don’t play in sanctioned competition much (like @patrob4) mentioned. I know people mentioned a black friday get together earlier, I’m couldn’t get out of work, but I hope a group or two got together.
Would commit to playing. My only reason for not having played before is the apparent lack of interest in the area to commit to any kind of structured events. In fact, that was part of the reason I made the trek to Peoria this past summer for the Strapped Redux (which was a blast). Definitely would love to commit to a more consistent game here
