Feel like we need to start thinking of what the loser has to do…maybe try the most disgusting sounding food at the fair? That may not work, theyre all decent. Worst beer might be better.
Can you help @freesypop out with that Stack system. I hear that guy needs a little more pop in the bat to keep up.
Currently in prep mode: Been stacking for the past 6 weeks, had one golf lesson, and brought the clubs in for lofts/lies/grip change. Year of the #product
Yes. 8th and 9th for sure
Deep fried butter?
If the loser has to eat one of those deep fried uncrustables, might just need to have me an off day
Maybe the loser has to eat the healthiest thing at the fair…totally defeating the purpose of going to the fair.
This guy gets it
SALAD ON-A-STICK
At The Salad Bowl (west balcony of the Agriculture Building) – an iceberg lettuce wedge with carrots and tomato served kabob-style, served with dressing
Or
VEGGIE CORN DOGS
At Veggie Table (north of the Varied Industries Building)
Gross.
Salad on a Stick sounds atrocious
Hello everyone,
Great Plains Golf Club is hoping to do a weekend of golf in Eastern Iowa and want to get some feedback. We haven’t had an opportunity to head out east yet, and after a fun discussion at this past year’s Butter Cow, found there might be some interest in that.
This weekend is not so much about the Roost itself and we’re hoping to possibly attract Wisconsin and Illinois guys as well if possible. The tentative weekend would be EDIT DUE TO MOTHER’S DAY Saturday and Sunday May 17-18, but those dates are not set in stone yet.
After the conversation at the Butter Cow, we definitely want to include the sand greens of Wellman Golf Course. That is absolutely going to be a part of the slate.
The idea would be an afternoon round or rounds on Saturday and a morning round on Sunday to allow for travel time for everyone coming in. Both rounds are separate to each other so if you are only able to participate one day, that’s completely fine. Formats are TBD, and while its not strictly a Roost event, GPGC points will be awarded to members as well.
We are looking for feedback for what other course to include for this weekend. We’re currently looking in the Iowa City area with Wellman being just southwest of Iowa City, and I’ve included a poll below to see which of three courses we might be most interested in as a starting point. If it looks like we’re going to have more interest from Wisconsin or Illinois, we can look at courses closer to the Quad Cities as options as well.
I’m including prices from last year as a reference if that is a factor. We’re hoping to start getting things ironed out soon, so if you have interest in coming out and playing some golf, give us your input in the poll below. Plans are still very flexible, and any ideas are welcome.
2024 Prices without Tax (walking/riding)
Blue Top Ridge ($99 riding only)
Finkbine ($62/$80)
Brown Deer ($41/$64)
Saddleback ($43/$65)
- Blue Top Ridge (in Riverside)
- Finkbine (Iowa City)
- Brown Deer (Coralville)
- Saddleback Ridge (Solon)
Explaining my vote. But I am up for anywhere!
I have not played most of those courses so I’m excited to get out that way.
Yeah back 9 is tough. 11 and 16 are pretty good. 18 good. Rest awful
Down to play anywhere with a lovely group of folks though
Love me some Saddleback, would be interested in headed back up again. Not to keep adding options but Airport National is sweet and pretty much down the road as well.
much like the other ANGC, not sure I agree with your take here.
I think ANGC was mentioned at the butter cow, merch for the weekend may or may not include some slightly more famous ANGC ripoffs
