Roll Call: Iowa

This Sunday, teeing off at 1:00pm, the match for the last Iowan standing in the GPGC Match Play Tournament takes place. Fittingly @ZachR and i have chosen Honey Creek in Boone - a course designed by a fellow Iowan: the late great Bradford Benz.

We still have one spot left for anyone interested in coming along for the ride. Aside from the match, Honey Creek is also a really fun course to play. Fair warning: it poses several questions, some of which containing swear words - but is fun all the same.

UPDATE: spot has been filled.

Also, sand green course in Wellman is sick!

The sand greens are dope. Washington county has a good little collection of 9 holers too if you’re ever back in the area.

alright, I got a 8:40am tee-time at the wonderful and dynamic Finkbine Golf Course in Iowa City, IA for Saturday morning.

Who wants to join me and my fellow warriors @runitout and @Worst12onEarth for a moderately good time?

This is a fun, quick, and easy place for one of the first examples of pasture golf. Just outside of Iowa City…

All due respect, but that course is horrendous.

I think even livestock would argue there isn’t enough grass on that course to label it pasture golf…

US Open local qualifier at Crow Valley Golf Club in Bettendorf tomorrow. It will be interesting to see what those guys shoot out there. 78 players battling for 4 spots. Course is dialed even more than usual and should yield some good scores. My son is in the field and played behind some KFT guys in his practice round today, which was slightly different than his high school and Iowa pga events lol.

Someone tell me about Harvester Club…is it good? Worth it?

It’s pretty widely regarded as the best course in the state. When it was public, it was top 100 in the country. Got an opportunity to play there?

Very good and worth it if you get a chance. All the rains flooded it out for a few days but Im sure its pristine already.

Those were the photos that got me asking questions. I had never heard of it before…

Now I need to find time to get back to visit family in DSM and find a way to get out there…

Was really great and public. 6ish years ago they renovated and went private and its very very good now. Easily top 3 in state and could be the best. Always perfect conditions with lightning greens. Its worth the effort to try to get out. Best course around (40min) DSM by far.
