Does this mean you’re in?

I will not be attending, will be busy beating Knoxville in 7th grade basketball. But I’m holding out hope for a Sunday round.

Any takers for 1 last spot tomorrow at 12:18 in Altoona? We can promise 1 good golfer, 1 good hang, and me because i booked the tee time.

The one week I’m in Des Moines and someone gets a game going I naturally am unable to participate. Vibes out there are going to be immaculate

Late to the game on this and hope you’ve got settled in. Life long Quad Citian here.

Davenport has been well covered by @RunItOut , but tremendous area.
I like Moline a bit more in terms of how @grandpa_jones saw it, but it’s clearly behind Davenport, but ahead of Rock Island. There isn’t a ton available, but there are some townhouses along 6th Ave that do long term rents/leasing.

I grew up in East Moline, so to see some of the stuff they have done at The Bend is staggering from where East Mo has come from my childhood.

If you like local breweries/beer, my rank(ish) order is:

Tier 1:
Radicle Effect
Stompbox
Adventurous
Wake

Tier 2:
Midwest Ale Works

Tier 3
Bent River

After that…I don’t really bother with any of them.

If you need food/restaurant rec’s let me know as well.

Welcome to the QC and hope the move went well!

We doing local QC brewery rankings? Love that.

  1. Wake (they are the only spot that does stouts regularly.)
  2. Radicle
  3. Stomp box
  4. Adventurous
  5. Nerdspeak (out of the way, but heavy on the vibes.) edit: being told by coworker they closed.
  6. Green Tree (leclaire but I still count it.)
  7. Five Cities
  8. Crawford
  9. Bent River
  10. Front Street

Have not been to Midwest Aleworks.

Hand of Doom from Wake is one of my favorite stouts ever. I’m not as big on the flavored variants, but the OG is awesome. Wake also does a great variety of beer, them and Stompbox are neck and neck.

I tried Nerdspeak once…as you said…way out of the way and all the beers I had were “fine” but very forgettable and never really gave me a reason to go back. I had heard they were closing too.

Midwest Aleworks is very good. They have a very good coffee stout (The Power Stout) and generally have a very good variety of beer on tap(close to 20). Bonus points(pints?) for sharing the location with a solid street taco place that you can get takeaway from and eat at MAW.

It’s sad to see Bent at the bottom of both of our lists. I’ll get trapped there every once in a while and the food is decent enough. Just wish their beer quality was higher/more consistent. When Uncommon Stout is on it’s game, tough to beat a big mug of it.

The Augusta of Ackworth with the 2024 “Beyonce All the Single Ladies” $367 season pass.

I’m curious how the course was looking at Terrace Hills this week? I grew up in Altoona and that was my home course.

For first week in February it was really good actually. Still some snow out there, but the greens were soft and rolled decently. It was about as good as we could have hoped for.

That’s good to hear. Based on where I am at, I thought it could be pretty soft and muddy
