And Indiana Beach is open again!
I’m actually at my parents house on Lake Shafer. We generally take the boat up to TCC at least once while I am here. I think we are playing the front there today. @auribe14 As for Indiana Beach, I worked there when I was in high school. My dad used to captain the Shafer Queen as his retirement job up until a couple of years ago.
If you want a lovely hidden gem, try Harrison Hills.
The carts are FYR I’m trying to go play there on Monday.
Hoping you all can help me out. Driving from South Carolina to Michigan next week and stopping for the night a few miles south of Carmel just off I-465. Any suggestions of a good place to eat that night? Will just get take out and bring it back to the hotel but want to try a local place.
Bub’s burgers is great for a burger and a milkshake! Try the big ugly (one pound patty after cooking).
Mullo and I are playing Shoaff at 7.15 tomorrow if you wanna snag a third time with us? His vaca plans fell through this weekend so it was a last minute arrangement
Played Tippecanoe CC with my 11 yo last night. Late sunsets meant we could tee off at 5:30 without a problem. Played 18 in 3 hours flat.
Had a blast. To top it off, my daughter found a No Laying Up tee on the 16th tee box.
I’m heading down to Marion to play both Walnut Creek courses tomorrow. Free Sunday morning though!
I got a wedge fitting Sunday so I’ll catch you next time. Enjoy walnut!
I played Harrison Hills today with some buddies. It was in great shape!
Played 49 holes today, playing 36 tomorrow, trying to squeeze in 18 more on Sunday morning. Fucking love this game
I am in Warsaw right now. My wife is from here and and we are visiting family. Got to play a local muni yesterday called Rozella Ford golf club. It was in great shape and a nice little track!
What a great day. Did Club Run in the morning. Course was almost completely empty, which meant we made great time. Went to Ivanhoe’s for lunch, then went back for Walnut Creek. Both courses had a lotta driveable par 4s, par 5s were def reachable for mid-long hitters. Plenty of tight pieces of property. Was able to finish before the short rain came in.
Wow! I was there yesterday too! It’s in such good shape. How pure are those greens??
They were great! It was as busy as I’ve ever seen it on Friday and they were pure as can be.
Stonehenge just reopened with new owners and is supposed to be looking much better.
Something I forgot to mention is both Walnut Creek courses have a lil story for each hole (similar to Royal Dornoch). Just like Randy, we would read the excerpt before teeing off and if we didn’t follow the advice, we were in the shit pretty much everytime. Definitely a Strapped-worthy selection if they make it to Indiana.
I can’t say anything about Walnut Creek since I only golfed at Club Run once, but I’m never golfing at Club Run ever again. It was not in good shape, only had 2 sets of tees (back tees at 5800ish?) and had the worst golf hole I’ve ever played (see attached). Honestly, Meshingomesia Golf Club just 10 minutes north would be the perfect strapped course. Course has a ton of history, a good layout with lightning fast greens, and peak walking rates of $30 on weekends.

It ferrrrr shurrrrrre had some odd holes. I’ll have to make another trip down to check out Meshingomesia. But let’s be honest, the only good thing about going down to Marion is for some Ivanhoe’s. 100 different shake flavors and the burgers are
