I added some OGs of UoH fame to the survey to make sure Houston was represented.
I threw my name on the list. If it’s in April or May, the baby will be 4-5 months old by then…I could probably swing a trip up to Pine Dunes.
I work right next to Raveneaux and the course still looks like it is in great shape. I don’t know if it is open to everyone yet. But I do believe the course eventually will all be retention unfortunately.
Everyone see the rate hike for Memorial Park GC for non residents? While I kinda agree we should have a non resident rate, but 140 plus cart on the weekends seems like a drastic jump. Although living in close proximity, it hopefully allows me to grab tee times easier than it was before.
Whoa I didn’t see that…that stinks. I mean I guess I get it, but still kinda shitty.
It’s in line with many other PGA stops that are muni’s (Harding, Torrey, Bethpage). As long as they keep it affordable to locals I see no issue with charging more for those that want to play it once when passing through.
Glad I got in there before that.
They say it was put in place by the city council. I kind of figured eventually there would be an out of town rate, but didn’t see the first one being at $155. Would have thought about 90-100 but yea it does fit in line with the other courses of that nature. Houstonians just aren’t used to prices about the $120 mark of GCOH.
Maybe this will free up tee times, does suck to see them have such a massive price hike.
Does mean I finally have to get my ID changed
When does it go into effect?
Jan 2021. Gonna be alot of 30-50 year old men trying to get fake Houston ID’s.
New here to the Refuge. Live out in Katy/Brookshire area. Question for the group: any chance we do our own NIT qualifying tourney around here?
Usually NIT events seem to be formed organically from the Duals like in San Antonio. I would be interested in a meetup of some sort if someone if willing to block off like 3 tee times somewhere. Or if you are interested in trying to arrange an NIT event through the Dads that would be cool but seems like alot of work without a huge backing.
Anyone have experience with Tomball Country Club recently? We just moved from 290/Hollister area to Tomball and I’ve heard they’re looking to get younger members in. I’m going to check it out sometime in the next couple of months but on their website it says $140/month for a Young Executive Family Membership so that seems like a steal if the golf is decent at all.
We’ve got a Texas wide Ryder Cup style thing in the works if you want to check that out. Also just because we have a meet up doesn’t mean it’s an NIT qualifier and that’s also not the point.
Right there with you on living close/hoping it opens up more times. Where’d you see the news?
It was on their facebook page.
Have it guys
