Welcome!
Hi Jaymie
Did we get you into the RACDG yet?
Hi all,
Recently joined the Refuge after listening to / watching NLU content for a couple of years.
Based in Cheshire and a member at Knutsford GC. Always keen to play new courses and meet new people through this infuriatingly brilliant game
Hi all. Only recently found the Refuge after enjoying the podcasts for a couple of years.
Love the idea of a slightly more ‘local’ thread here, and actually having played some of the courses mentioned (as opposed to precisely zero on the other side of the pond).
I’m living just outside Belfast, playing at Greenacres (so basically a neighbour of @peterwarke ). Just a couple of years now of getting back in to the game again (everything seemed much easier as an 18yo…).
And lucky enough to have a patient OH who doesn’t object to me bringing the bats on holiday, so have been able to play around the country a few times - Portrush (Dunluce), Portstewart (riverside), Portsalon, Rosapenna (both), Cruit Island, Westport, Skibbereen & New Ross.
Greetings to my Refugee friends in the British Isles. Can anyone (specifically the Scots in and around St Andrews) point me to a way of finding out what putting competitions (formats) the SA Ladies Putting Club does? Looking into starting putting comps here in the states but finding very little on formats on the interweb. Emailed their general email address as well. Thanks!
There aren’t that many UK people left in the Refuge post paywall I’m afraid so while I don’t know the answer I’ll hazard a guess to give you something.
Over here about 95% of matches are straight up match play. You play for holes. Lowest score wins. If it’s a 2 ball it’ll be head to head. 4 balls play 4 ball better ball.
They may play individual stroke play for comps but it’ll be rare. Maybe just the club champs. Other than that we prefer knock out through match play.
Hi there, new to the refuge after listening the podcasts for a few years! Relatively inexperienced golfer based in Edinburgh, and hoping to get out more frequently this year if possible!
I hope this is appropriate, but I was wondering if anyone would be interested - I have recently purchased a quarter zip from NLU however it is sadly too big (order XL, usually either L or XL based on brand), and given it is international shipping I cannot return it!
I was wondering whether anyone in the UK would be interested in purchasing it at (slightly less than) face value?
Product is this, in XL:
Happy to sell for £50 inc shipping, brand new, never worn.
Please let know via DM if anyone is interested, or knows anyone else who might be!
Thanks!

Hey, no I never got in, would be happy to though if it’s still going on? I kind of dropped off of golf, and by extension the Refuge, around October. Getting back into it now and I appear to have missed uh, a lot.
Fire me over a text on 07880556250 and I’ll get you sorted.
Hi, long time NLU fan only just getting around to signing up here.
I am based in Windsor and joined Mill Ride late 2019. Sadly the pandemic has restricted play since joining.
Thanks
First post on the refuge, from Belfast but moved to Knutsford last year, just joined the local club in time for new lockdown - @NW_Chris - would be good to get a round in!
Will keep an eye out for meets later this year once things open up.
Hey mate. Great stuff! And absolutely. I’ll drop you a message as I’ll be able to look you up on our club directory
Bumping this Newbies. Got a lot of us in the WhatsApp around the UK & Ireland. Always got games and comps on the go. And right now lots of purchasing of ridiculous golf related items we don’t need due to Lockdown 3.0
Text or DM me in here if you want to get dragged into the fun.

Hi All, Newbie to the refuge.
Huge fan of the NLU crew. Just getting back to golf - Cork Ireland. Former member of Bandon GC (not dunes but was wishing it was after watching Tourist Sauce season!!!). Will hopefully rejoin Bandon soon but during lockdown also built a home simulator in the garage to keep me ticking over.
We’ve got a few members down round Cork now. Let us know if you want dragged in.
Hi everyone, long-time NLU listener/watcher and new Nest member living in Dublin.
Loving the Refuge so far, are there many other Irish members on here?
Welcome! We have 4 in Cork and I believe 3 or 4 in Dublin. Good amount in the North as well! Where do you play out of in Dublin?
Get him into the Flock Robert!
