Roll Call: Eastern PA/ South NJ

Thanks for the detail! There are couple on your list I’ve been thinking about. Great to have that insight. For the ones you’re looking to play, here are my thoughts on the three I’ve played:

-Jeffersonville: worth the hype IMO. If you play on a weekday it’s a great value. I prefer walking most of the time and on weekend mornings they charge you the full cart rate which is a bit frustrating ($65). Can’t wait to go back though.
-Galen Hall: old school and very quirky. Got paired with locals who knew where the bodies are buried. If I hadn’t been with them I would have easily lost 5 strokes. Enjoyed the round and it’s very reasonable even on a weekend morning.
-Scotland Run: really enjoyed the course. Was in great shape and had some really interesting holes/routing/views. The only downside is cost. It’s expensive and don’t think it’s worth $120.

Public Suggestions you haven’t hit yet

Shore:
ACCC
Shoregate
Seaview Bay
Ballamor

South Jersey:
Running Deer

North Jersey:
Rock Spring
Ballyowen
Neshanic

PA:
Glen Mills
Wyncote
Lederach (if you liked Laurel Creek)

Delaware:
Baywood

Awesome, thanks! Definitely a couple I’ve already circled (ACCC, Glen Mills) but good to have a few more I don’t know much about (yet!).

Just moved to the Clementon/Pitman area and would love to get out and meet some locals if anyone wants to play this weekend. Not super familiar with the area yet but I’m willing to drive a bit if needed, so if anyone’s interested let me know!

Hey all, going to drop my name in here as I’m originally from Yardley, PA and lived in CC Philly for several years before moving to the West Side of Cleveland in late 2018 for my work. It looks like I am going to be given the opportunity to move back since I have expressed PA is where I want to be long term in early 2021. The plan would be to move back to Bucks County, Yardley ideally. Anyone have any experience with Yardley Country Club? I see they are having a membership drive and from what I can tell, although small it looks like a nice facility. I’ve driven by it thousands of times over the years but never had the opportunity to play it. Thinking about pursuing a membership there potentially. Would also be interested in Trenton CC where I have played before but I think it’s in a different stratosphere of pricing if I’m not mistaken (maybe I am)? Open to other recommendations and would love to get out at some of my old haunts like Makefield, Mountain View, the Bucks Club, and others with some Refugees when I’m back!

Iron Valley is a fifteen minute drive from me and it is by far my favorite course in the area let alone one of my favorite courses I’ve played anywhere (may be slightly biased). Two very different style of 9 holes on the front and back and an affordable rate (varies $60-$100).

Has anyone played Hartefeld National recently? Heading up to AC in a few weeks, and trying to get a round in on the way.

Same proposal applies this week if anyone is interested

Hey all - long time NLU fan but new to the Refuge. Currently living in Springfield, PA (Rolling Green is literally a sand wedge from my backyard) with a handicap is 15.5. Working it down since having baby #2 earlier in the year. Always looking for new partners to play with and new courses in the area to play - I haven’t been on too many different courses - especially private.

Favorite public courses in the area:

  1. Jeffersonville
  2. Wyncote
  3. Bella Vista
  4. Paxon Hollow
  5. Riverwinds

If you can, you really should check out LuLu CC. Great golf course!

That is a pretty solid list. Jeffersonville can’t be beat for its price, but getting a solid time can be difficult with how busy it is.
I thank you for mentioning Wyncote. That one is right up there with Makefield for my favorite courses in the area.

Riverwinds goes for $122 on the weekend. Jaworski can suck it for that price

Jeff is my home course, play in 2 leagues there, so getting a tee time has rarely been an issue for me luckily.

Wyncote is always in impeccable condition, but man if you’re not straight off the tee be prepared with an extra box of balls.

Agreed with Riverwinds for the price. I do enjoy the views from the course, but the price is brutal.

I have played Lulu as well - another great track!

I posted this in the Metro NYC thread, but I’m involved in hosting a tournament next month at Watchung Valley in NJ for a great cause.

You can respond to the email on the flyer or shoot me a PM if you’re interested in playing or otherwise supporting.

Give Spring Mill a look, I am going to be playing a round/touring the club for 2021 membership possibly. Very affordable and apparently they dumped some money in the course last year in bunker renovation and tree removal when they sold off their old driving range on the property

Anyone on here do grips/club work? Would like to get my irons and a wedge regripped (I have grips already) and custom ferrules on and would happily pay to support someone local rather than go to a big box store

I’m in Delaware. Delcastle and Deerfield in Wilmington area are good courses. White Clay Creek is built on marshland – bring lots of golf balls you don’t mind losing. Bayside is near Lewes, in lower Delaware, and it’s the nicest course in the Lewes/Rehoboth area. Enjoy fall golf!

Hi All! Grew up in the Chester Springs area, and just recently moved back after a 7 year hiatus a few hours south. Most of the guys I knew back then are either pros who can’t play much or guys that have given up the game. I’ve been playing in a regular Sunday game at Kimberton, but no many guys there that travel or play outside of that. Was reading the recent issue of the TGJ and came across the good vibes of this community and wanted to get involved. Just looking to meet some fellow golf nuts and see if anyone was out this way?

Anyone play Westwood or Rivewinds? Play both but my league is out of westwood.

bro I grew up in Chester Springs - Horseshoe Trial. Now live in Exton. Kimberton was my course growing up. Joined Bellewood in Pottstown a few years ago and play out of there. haven’t had the chance to meet too many refugees but I’ll play with anyone anytime.

I was right off of Flowing Springs. Grew up playing KGC as well. Hoping the new owners can bring it back and some. How did you land at Bellewood? - small hike from Exton and other closer options. It’s actually where we have been looking to join, and a few of our new neighbors are members, including the current club champion.
