Roll Call: Connecticut

Some of my league buddies have played it and LOVE it.

Finally got out to Keney Park yesterday. TOO good. Super fun layout and those green complexes are a blast.

Want to put (another) plug her for Richter Park. Played there this past weekend and thought it was a great course. Challenging but fair and in fantastic shape. Definitely recommended for those in the greater Danbury area.

Playing Richter tomorrow
Heard some of the holes on the back had a rough spring. Glad to see itā€™s back to its old self
Great course

did you catch a glimpse of Morefar GC?

I did. I actually had the ā€œopportunityā€ to play there. Was for a charity tournament ā€“ $1500/person. No thanks.

Wow. Was it a scramble? If you were allowed to play your own ball it might almost be worth itā€¦

Iā€™m not sure. The invite just specified ā€œgolf outingā€ but didnā€™t address the format. I just looked at the invite again and it was actually $1000/person. But still ā€“ that type of scratch would get you a flight and a round at Pebble. Hell, you could fly to Scotland and play St. Andrews.

I know people who have played the course and Iā€™ve heard itā€™s beautiful and very well taken care of, but most of itā€™s allure is just from exclusivity.

I consider myself somewhat knowledgeable about golf and I had never even begun to hear about this Morefar Back Oā€™Beyond joint until five seconds ago when I read this thread. Sounds like a name out of a Tolkein story. For anyone else who is on here like, wtf mate:

Iā€™ve lived in CT my whole life and never heard of this place.

Itā€™s super strange. I got in a google/wikipedia blackhole the first night I heard about it just trying to figure out everything I possibly could about. There is a few pictures on instagram of it from random people too. Truly bizarre.

Good point. Two summers ago I got paired with a random dude who said he played it and it wasnā€™t even that special. Great shapeā€¦ and then thereā€™s the weird statues all over the course which is fun but thatā€™s really all he had to say.

I also didnā€™t believe that he actually played it.

$21 for 9 at Shennecosset today. Super enjoyable, fun Donald Ross layout. Surprisingly good shape. Very woke.

Both par 5ā€™s on the front had trouble EXACTLY where you want to hit it. The place screamed width and angles. Very firm (but not very fast).

Need to get to the back 9 as Iā€™ve heard itā€™s better and has 3 holes on the water.

Great surprise after going to play Fenwick but getting boxed out by the Thursday night league.

Yeah i want to check this out. Maybe next summer. 90+ minute drive wasnā€™t working for me this summer. Did get to play Jeffersonville when I was visiting family in PA so I did get my Ross fix at least once this summer.

Playing Wampanoag on Monday for the Hartford Habitat charity scramble.

Damnā€¦jealous. Enjoy.

My league is at Lyman Orchards and we were on the Player back 9 last night. Iā€™m starting to think Gary Player is an a$$hole ā€“ or he just really loves blind shots. Both the back and front are chock full of ridiculous blind approaches. Why, Gary, why?!

Should also note it was a very ā€œStrappedā€ vibe. Played with 3 strangers.

One from Maine in the area on a contract job.
One from Fort Lauderdale on his way to Vermont with family and work reasons to stop by the area.
One local who has been playing the course 4 days a week for 20 years.

Great camaraderie. All finished within 4-5 shots of each other.

Iā€™ve been to Fenwick twice this summer and the greens are in great shape
