Hi guys — long-time Chicagoan looking to play more golf at new-to-me courses with others. Can someone send me the discord link? Thanks!

I don’t know, man, we may be over our limit on Kevins.

Hey - New Orleanian here - I’m in the Chicago area next Tuesday (7/22) and looking to play in the afternoon. I know its short notice, and a weekday, but wanted to see if anyone was interested in a game. I was thinking about playing Mount Prospect, but open to any suggestions of where to play too. Cheers!

Are you staying near MP? Lots of great options in the Chicagoland area

Staying in Wicker Park, but will have a car and fine driving a bit for good golf (even thought about going into Wisconsin)

I’m a big fan of the Macdonald/Raynor style. What’s the local take on Mount Prospect?

I’ll say they made an attempt at that style. Some swings and misses out there for sure. But also, some solid base hits.

I’ll say that a lot of the enjoyment of the course depends on wherever the landscaping company they hire out the maintenance to ends up setting the pins. And it can feel quite claustrophobic out there at times.

very good info, thanks. What are some of your favorite spots in the area?

Just hit the Highlands of Elgin/Bowes Creek double-header and thank us later.

I’m probably leaving some off. But generally speaking, these are net positives in our group.

I also took zero consideration into where you’re going to be located, so apologies if these are too far. And I probably left a lot of them off by accident.

I was not familiar with Belmont’s history. I may have to go check that out!

It’s a muni course which you shouldn’t take super serious. Think of it as a chance to play fairway woods, long irons, and wedges.

One person’s opinion but you’d have a much better time playing Belmont twice than MP once.

Solid list from FF. Sunset Valley is a sweet spot of proximity to the city, value, walkability and strong variety of golf holes.

MP intentionally did not make the list.
