MP is favorable on here generally speaking. We host a roost major there. But it has some vocal detractors that sorta thing the band has gotten more Grammys and commercial opps than it truly deserves.
Esler is a really good architect. Black Sheep, for example, is phenomenal
#15 is the worst hole, not #17
It would be a much better course if the greens were firm enough to work approach shots. 4th hole is the best example - if it’s a back right pin you have to land it all the way back there even tho the design presents a kicker in the front that doesn’t do anything. The 16th is another good example, it’s a Biarritz where if the flag is in the back you have to fly it past the swale, because in typical conditions even an intentionally low approach to the front of the green won’t chase through the swale. Contrast with #4 at Shepherds Crook with similar design features but firm enough that they actually work the approach ball
Great point on the firmness. I can’t say my approach shots are getting this creative at my current skill level, but the 3-pack of lessons I just got could say otherwise shortly - stay tuned for the inevitable “I figured out my swing” message in the discord.
Last I heard from a friend who is a member, they approved his routing/proposal, but haven’t agreed on timing of roll-out remodel approach & budget (doing a few holes at a time). However, I got a sneak peak at the routing and it is definitely getting the breath of fresh air it needed. Very excited.
They took out a few trees recently at least when I last played it was open ish. That being said, a chainsaw is always welcomed out there. * and same for Aurora especially.
Welcome! Another Lakeshore East resident here. Have been a bit #offline on here recently but would be down to get some 5i in sometime. A bit more conducive than a full round of golf with a 2 month old at home haha
