I’ll print out the threads once a week and mail them.
…you click the left side for the topics. And then you talk about that topic in the thread.
Not to be the Debbie Downer, but I really don’t understand the appeal of Discord. The app is low on functionality, navigating it is clunky, and I don’t see anything unique to Discord that can’t be done elsewhere. I don’t really check it that often consequently.
I’m kidding. This is good feedback. I think the fairly active and growing usage of Discord over the past year indicates it was a net positive.
You can nuke any server and thread, say after a long train ride.
For some reason the replies and where conversations are at and mentions don’t make sense to me.
Remember when we had a what’s app?
Is it more active than this used to be?
I don’t care. I’m clearly in the minority.
I just appreciate it’s accessible via desktop, and therefore an additional outlet to avoid work.
Well in our discord it’s easier to talk shit about other roosts
IMO, it’s a lot easier to follow multiple topics on Discord (or mute them!) than in a single basically anything goes thread here. We do have the ability to create multiple threads within a Roost-specific area within Discourse (here) but that excludes people who aren’t in that Discourse group.
I’ve personally found it most useful for organizing tee times, which for the most part stays in the tee-times channel and allows people to mute that if they want. Tougher to do here, especially if some other topic comes in hot and buries that original topic.
Pros and cons for sure. To me it’s felt like a positive add. Would definitely like to hear opinions on how to make it better.
It’s grown a bunch and I have gotten used to it but it was an adjustment. Biggest pro was tee times thread and the ability to get notification on the phone. Biggest con is just something else I need to check/another work time waster (which could be a pro @kmcswain)

The discord has 141 members but tough to say how many are “active”. I think the tee time thread is the most useful during the season but enjoy shooting the shit during the offseason ( I also don’t have a bunch of kids like @TeddyPargame so it’s easier). There’s a good chance any thing of significance is posted here as well.
Just wait until @TeddyPargame’s kids are old enough that we can start having a premier breakfast ball league and a lower league to introduce relegation.
You youth can fund our Breakfast of Champions league.
To chime in on this, I think you’re absolutely right about tee times and events. I’d compare the organization of fall tee times this year or even the War on the Shores/Deck the Ballz off-season events in Discord to Da Rap 'Round on here. It seemed like things come together much faster in making tee times/travel plans/etc. in the Discord threads for these items individually. Da Rap 'Round seems like it developed more slowly and was harder to complete - it certainly felt harder to make my own tee times.
Personally love the Discord (though I miss DMs all the time). I don’t have many positives to add - it has all kinds of great little things that make it interesting (custom emojis/reacts, easy DMs, and easy-to-adjust threads).
And there’s even a fire sale on polos and layers going on in the sick deals thread!
Don’t see the point in discord when we pay to have access to this? Just my feedback
Fair view, but fyi, this is in front of the paywall.
Understood but why have to bounce back and forth between two different platforms?
