I’ve been out there twice for outings, used to know a member and a couple of grounds guys are in my league.
A tight Tom Bendelow design with some sneaky good land movement. Not too many flat lies on the fairways out there. Course is kept very well, definitely pride themselves on that. Greens are fast and roll great.
I’ve heard the membership is excellent, just a good group of people. Food is superb as well.
Honestly, if I lived closer, I’d join WCC over big brother down the street. Despite being 9-holes, it seems like they do everything better. Conditions, food, members, etc.

Played the front 9 at Highland Woods yesterday before we called it quits due to sideways freezing rain. I’ve driven by there a dozen times and was always curious to see the course so was excited, but man that weather fucking sucked. I enjoyed the holes we played, then on 6 was when it got bad and we looked at each other and said “let’s play as fast as we can”.
Woodstock CC is excellent. Father-in-law was a member. Hidden gem territory.

Super cool, but only played it a few times for junior golf tournaments. I just remember it was mega narrow and the fact we played the same holes twice confused the hell out of me when I was 13.

Wife has family in and from McHenry and everything about them (sports fandom, personal style, tastes) align with MKE and Wis more than IL and Chicago.

Laura and I got out there a couple years ago on a Great Greens Fees deal. Had low expectations because of the source of the tee time, but it was great.
