Roll Call “Chicago” (Part 2)

Had this beaut at Chevy Chase today. Huge, char, juicy, flavor for days, the total package. Only $5 and it came with chips too! Probably a new #1 when the coaches poll comes out.

We’ve got an event Saturday at spring valley in Wisconsin so a lot of guys will be there. I’m sure there are a few stragglers that didn’t pay @PTM who would be willing to play.

Sunset Valley dog at turn today. Beef. Proper bun, red with some snap. Would do again.

Amenities - just yellow mustard offered.

Looking for a course recommendation. My parents moved out to Galena in October wren my Dad retired and we’re trying to meet once a week for a round. I’m in western burbs and would like to meet halfway. Any mid-tier or better courses around the Rockford area??

:wave:t3: Resident PrairieView in Byron stan. There’s also Silver Ridge in Oregon, which I have only played once absolutely ages ago in a scramble.

Atwood Homestead, played a few years ago and from what I recall was a good time.

I played Aldeen a couple years ago and wasn’t wowed, but would certainly be another option.

Prairie View is probably the right answer. Aldeen is fine, well-kept, great restaurant.

I remember working on a course near Dixon back in my survey days. It was Lost Nation, so let’s play my favorite game of checking out the Google review photos.

Story time!

My wife grew up in NE Ohio next to a muni called Lost Nation that winds through a couple neighborhoods.

My father-in-law “plays” golf. I have never played a round with him, and if I am lucky in life, never will. One of my BIL has accompanied him in the cart a few times and from the accounts it’s not something I ever want to witness. My #1 rule in life is to never get in a car he is driving, so I can’t imagine a 4-5 hour round in his company.

Well one day he realized there was a golf course in Dixon, IL also named Lost Nation. So now when they come visit, he will often drive all the way out there to play some presumably atrocious golf, all because it has the same name of the course he lives next to. :man_shrugging:

TYFYS @PTM for providing me with additional visuals.

Two guys with no sleeves in one picture!

And this bag set up is a national treasure…Bears Staff bag, 5 Bears gead covers, a cubs mallett cover, and iron covers. Assuming that the Blackhawks towel is clipped to the other side of his bag.

Looks like Atwood is part of some Winnebago County co-op with two other courses… ever play the Ledges? Looks playable

I have not. A lot of my Rockford area golf experience was as a teenager who had no idea what he was doing. So a lot of Park District courses getting yelled at by Boomers.

Came to comment on that bag.

I’ll add to the Prairie View love even though I eject worse that Goose 3/4 of the time. Heard good things about Wolf Hollow in Lena.

Warrior! Can’t believe I couldn’t think of Warrior.

If you like golden age courses and some quirk check out Sandy Hollow and Macktown in Rockton.
