Roll Call “Chicago” (Part 2)

It was a’ight, tho we couldn’t scrape together a partner for the main character so he didn’t show up.

Like Mahomes, I did a ton of drugs during halftime (allegedly) and unlike Mahomes, my performance in the second half suffered mightily as a result and we got bounced early

Dang, was hoping for him to show up with an entourage Bryson style, maybe bring his own launch monitor to a sim.

First ever St Andrews experience today.
For $25 in mid February, it’s a splendid walk with a golf bag. For what they charge during peak season, it’s tremendously underwhelming.

Yet they still manage to fill the tee sheet…

I don’t know how this is your first time but I think your rating against price is a bit harsh. I have a soft spot for both courses becauseThey host a ton of youth events IJGA/HS/College and they are very youth focused. Growing up they would charge you your age to play and the courses are always super playable. Some goofy holes sure, but I think that is it’s charm.

Also the last time I saw the 15th hole pictured it was a video of cop cars driving down the cart path. https://www.reddit.com/r/golf/comments/z342nq/nothing_like_a_police_chase_to_lively_up_a_round/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

Loving the tribute to all the soon to be lost tee shots over on the SCGC Insta account!

Most of these dogleg holes around ponds get REALLY easy in wintertime. Just gotta bounce one off the ice and hope it carries over to the other side

Question for everyone since there’s lots of talk of wedges elsewhere.

Below is from the Vokey wedge selector, where do you think the average Chicago land course lands on this?

  • Firm
  • Slightly Firm
  • Neutral
  • Slightly Soft

I’ve struggled with this as well. It would really improve these types of tools if they provided some examples (animations, video etc) to explain what they mean by these conditions.

April Midwest mudbog vs AZ cart path?

Too seasonal with mush at muni til June (?) then munis baked til Oct.
Edit/Add: my 60 and go to bounce doesn’t appear for months unless required.

Bump. Came here to say exactly this.

48 and sunny on Sunday, anybody looking to get out?

Edit: on further review, 1-4 inches of snow on Thursday probably makes this unlikely. Carry on.

The discussion on MPCC’s initiation price over in the Firepit Collective thread got me thinking…

What are the going prices for initiation and dues for Chicagoland private clubs? Are the ones on the southside still hurting for members?

Full disclosure. I pay $90 a year to be a social member of some course called second city. I’m also a national member of Brough Creek National but I have yet to visit or pay dues
