Not true, Reedy’s sucks! I used to drive to Zigfield or Stonebridge if I needed to hit rangeballs. Arrowhead is Okay but you hit off of mats uphill
just let @Setwilli know when you want to play Phillips Park in Aurora. He prefers peak rush hour tee times.
I love a 4 hour round trip to play a 5 hour round of golf!
Seven Bridges looks hellish. I’ve seen the course from the road on the southern end and it doesn’t look like a good time.
Phillips Park any good besides the long rounds?
What about Lombard 9?
Any good old school or budget courses? Bonnie Brook was just about my favorite place to play up north.
The Lombard 9 is pretty mediocre, decent price if you can play mid day and it’s usually in good shape so it scratches the itch.
The Downers Grove course now Belmont is a nine holer as well but a much better golf experience.
The Glen Ellyn Villages links course has a full 18 hole course as well as a separate 9 hole course with a good bar restaurant attached as well.
What they (@wseitz26 , @Kerry , @Pinehurts …) said.
7-Bridges is kinda like liver and onions… few love it, most hate it, and some like it only once in a while (me).
Belmont is probably the closest to you: pros are good range and practice area, longish from the tips (par 36, 3,300 yards and you would hit most clubs in your bag), a great walk and 9-holes so it does not take your whole day. Cons are it could be slow and there are leagues on few weekday evenings and on Saturday morning (which is bs I think).
I really believe Belmont is heavily underrated because it’s only nine holes. But they’re nine damn good holes. I would love an event there at one point.
I could ask for a block of tee times…how many do you usually plan for?
The fifth hole is kind of iffy. The land is cool.
28 is the sweet spot for a regular event. The signup will fill in fast and you’ll probably have 6-8 alternates to call in as needed.
Not sure how many would be needed for a 9 hole event unless they can guarantee us two loops
I don’t think that do replays (but I’ll ask). Would anyone be interested in 9 holes at Belmont (Downers Grove) and beers at the clubhouse (or at the range) after? Vote with likes.
I love it despite only playing once. Two different nines and good land movement. Definitely recommend.
100% agree. The approach from the fairway isn’t bad, but the tee shot always makes me uncomfortable.
Some of the most accessible C.B. Macdonald holes anywhere
I guess I missed this rebrand announcement because I was racking my brain trying to figure out what the hell you guys were talking about.
Agree 100% with your take. Even though 5 is objectively terrible, it’s still a fun match play hole. We should definitely get a group out there this year.
I only go to Reedy’s because its a 3 minute drive from the crib. Other than that I prefer Springbrook if it is not super crowded.
Bolingbrook GC has the best practice facility in the area.
I’ve played it only once, 4-5 years ago, and the only thing that sticks out is what @Pinehurts said regarding two nines and land movement. So what am I missing/forgetting about the 5th at Phillips? If I gather anything from the satellite, it’s a very narrow landing area w/ driving vs. long approach laying up?
I think the disdain is for 5 at belmont
Ah. I see it now. He replied with quotes on two different courses. Thanks
