Listen, fer sure
I’m getting pretty fed up with cars that fly through roll through crosswalks w/o looking or fly through zebra crossings w/o yielding especially when walking my dog. Will be interesting to see how drivers react to taking a muddy, slobbery tennis ball to the side panel in retribution for endangering pedestrians.
Seems like a proportionate reaction, no?
Remind me to tell you about the greatest poop bag toss of all time.
Some cities have rotating stop sign cameras and I have nagged my alder team to ask the city to enact.
or a well placed loogie
This is a great story
Hmm…should be interesting. Looked up the scorecard, debated on taking a smaller set with me and not the full bag.
You could definitely do that, the par 5’s are super target golf oriented and it would probably be a fun half set course.
I’m not in the city anymore, but worse than this was people who fly through alley exits/sidewalks and think it’s cool because they honked their horn. First, slow the fuck down. Second, half the people you’d potentially be running into can’t hear you honk your horn because we’re wearing headphones/earbuds.
I love Dovetail. Their seasonal stuff can be hard to find in the suburbs. Last year when they released their Maibock, we had just moved. But we still had a few wiggleworms classes at the Old Town School to attend, so I swung by one day afterward to pick some up. Only I didn’t look in the bag, and didn’t realize until I got home that I had gotten two four packs of regular helles instead of the maibock. I mentioned in the lager forum on beeradvocate and someone recommended ordering via delivery, which they were doing to various locations on a bi-weekly schedule. So I did that, and when the delivery came a few days later, they included an extra four pack of the maibock, two really nice glasses, and a hand-written note apologizing for the mix up. So those dudes are pretty cool.
Also if you’re out around Downers and like lagers, Goldfinger is doing some really good stuff, and is worth checking out. I think you can find their four packs at the Beer Temple as well.
And do not sleep on Great Central when it comes to German Styles. Everything they do is good, but their Dunkel and Weizenbock are really awesome.
Goldfinger is absolutely amazing. Personally like their stuff more than Dovetail but I know everyone has their preferences. Plus it helps that I live a town over and can be there in minutes. It’s a shame I am missing their Lagerversary this year.
i yell at cars in our neighborhood all the time.
IT’S A STOP SIGN!
or the classic
SLOW DOWN
We’re not in the city, but live on the corner of a fairly busy street with a 4-way stop. Those signs are very much a suggestion to most people around here, which is fun with distracted teenagers rolling through on longboards with earbuds in while staring at their phones.
my old man would sit at the top of the driveway with a bucket of tennis balls. If he saw someone coming that was going too fast for his liking he’d just roll a ball down the driveway into the street. Miraculously he never caused a serious accident.
Hello friends, checking in from NC here. I have a fantasy football draft the last weekend in august and will be headed up to chicago with 12 dudes (probably 8 golfers)
Wanted to see if there were recs on golf in the area. Handicaps ranging from 3-25 and interest in golf ranging about the same.
Chicago, or “Chicagoland”?
Two very different options that are in/super close to the city:
Jackson Park - your classic muni, but super close to the city. cheapest option, best if you just wanna get out there and dont want anything special about the round.
Harborside - the classically nice option, I am literally having my bachelor party outing there next week. Also pretty close to the city, as in you could probably uber there and back if you had to.
I’d cosign:
Good deal thank you, will check it out!
And seems like I might be totally missing on a joke here @andrewf but i’ll assume its a solid one.
Your course options will just vary a lot depending on whether you are staying in the actual city or a surrounding suburb
It’s no joke. If you’re staying somewhere in the burbs aka Chicagoland, our golf recs would be very different than if you’re actually staying in Chicago proper. If the latter is true, then @BabblingBrooksKoepka has answered perfectly.
