Roll Call “Chicago” (Part 1)

I have some golf vouchers to burn, so taking Monday off to play Bittersweet at 7:30am and Foxford Hills around 1:30ish, if anyone is looking for some hooky golf and can’t make the trip to Lawsonia.

Happy Wednesday.

For those going, this is from the Chase Sapphire lounge behind 8 green/9 tee. Just show your card and you’re in with access to nice bathrooms, bars, shade, etc.

After a literal nightmare scenario happening at work last week which led to me missing a scramble on Dubsdread yesterday and skipping the practice round today, two tickets for Saturday just dropped in my lap.

May cry.

I’ll be there Saturday and I’m wondering the same thing, planning to get there around 6:30-7 hoping to sneak into the first tee crowd or fairway crowd before heading out to the rest of the course.

This seems like a hole that could be described as really fun or really stupid.

14th at Blackstone. Par 4. It plays 418 from the tips, but we played it from the golds at 400 yards

Its about 225 yards from our tee box to the hazard. The hazard is about 100 yards deep. I count the hazard as more than just the water since those weeds are so thick your ball is actually gone. Then there is a false front and collection area front left, a bunker front center, and a mound behind the green.

What is so hard is, on your tee shot, if you arnet confident in hitting that small target left, you have to lay up, and even that needs precision, if you dont lay up close enough you need to hit a long iron, which i am sure plenty of people here are nervous with.

This is the only hole i have ever played where I considered trying to get a penalty on my tee shot.

This hole costed me a solo second place in the world renowned 2019 McHenry County Am :rage:
As you were saying the lay up was my only real option and I blew it through the fairway trying to get as close to the edge as possible and it just rolled in.

The guy who won aimed for the cart path with a three wood, he figured if it goes in might as well hit wedge for my third shot versus 5-6 iron, not a fun hole under pressure haha

It’s the flip of the opening hole at Sunset Valley (fairway on right and water on left).

It reminded me of and easier version of hole 14 at Olympia fields. I remember hitting driver, 6 iron at Olympia fields and here I hit 5 iron, 8 iron. The false front at OF is in front and Blackstone it’s to the left. Sunset Valley hole 1 doesn’t have the same feeling of danger since the hazard doesn’t cut through the approach.

Which course do you prefer? Prairie View Golf Club or Kankakee Elks

I’ve started to take a morning walk along the lake before work over the last month or so. Those waves were quite spicy yesterday (and to a lesser degree this morning as well)

Watching them crash up into the shoreline while playing Syd this morning was pretty sweet.
