Anyone considering watching the Illini invite at OF tomorrow? They allow spectators for free and hardly anyone shows up.
HIGHLY recommend going. Always a loaded field, OFCC is a great walk, and a great chance to see great golf up close.
Illini Women are at Medinah No2 in early October as well, if you’re big into Tommy Doak things
Was there today. It’s a fun way to watch golf when you get to walk down fairways following players.
Glenview was GREAT. Needs more buzz here. Schaumburg does too but that’s a different story. Some of the greens were a bit head scratching and this fookin tree! But overall an absolute gem of a course. Maybe a bit tight but I was hitting it well off the tee so I had a lot of fun. Usually courses with that many bunkers can’t keep up with maintenance, but even after serious rain (right? I was in MKE last night) the state of the sand was suberb. Every hole has a unique visual or design something I can’t say about Sunset Valley. 5/5 would play again.
I am huge Glenview fan, and haven’t been out there enough this season. The initial stretch of five straight par 4s is a little weird, but they make up for it with some good variety. 11 will always live rent free in my head. And yes fuck that tree.
Doakster in fall conditties?

I parred 10 and 11 somehow. Really bad par on 11 but I’ll take it. 10 was one of the sexiest 5 irons I’ve ever hit.
That first par 5 though I followed up an amazing drive with a topped 3 wood into the water so that’s my nemesis hole after one round.
I got a spot open for tomorrow morning at Sydney at 706am if anyone wants to wake up and join @Wheel and I for a a nice morning stroll
Are there any locally owned golf stores that y’all would recommend. Obviously, I could go to Golf Galaxy but I prefer to go to a local shop first.
Anyone know if Blackstone is a walkable course?
Oh no. Not at all.
Can confirm. A very tough walk.
Only local shop I know of is Pelican at Arrowhead in Wheaton but that’s more custom fitting from what I hear. We do have a lot of local manufacturers to choose from (Wilson,TourEdge,Sub70) that have direct to consumer
If you’re looking for a fitting, Cantigny also has a pretty decent staff (Mike i believe is the guy you want)
There’s Ultimate Golf in Willowbrook
Finished up at Schaumburg GC. Best park district course I’ve played in the area. Better than MP imo.
Few simple reasons (it doesn’t take much):
- good easy walk
- nice and wide, not overgrown with trees
- greens were big
- greens were in awesome shape.
Couldn’t have enjoyed it more.
Which 9s did you get?
Tournament/Baer
Not only is it not very walkable, but I’m not even sure they’ll charge you less if you forgo the cart.
Perhaps the December event could be there?
