Heading from Michigan to St. Louis Sunday…anyone up for Kankakee Elks sometime Sunday morning?

Need a quick recommendation. I’m coming from northwest Indiana up to North Barrington for work Monday morning. Should wrap up around noon. Looking for course recommendations up that way or anything down the way back. Thanks all.

Makray is a decent track in the area, but I would MUCH rather play over at Steeple Chase on your way back. You could also hit up Mt Prospect which isn’t too far out of the way. If you’re trying to get over towards the highway, you could sneak over towards Chevy Chase which is a delightful little Bendelow track.

If you need to score well - Highland Woods is a nice track (with Golfboards…sick) that’s easy to score well on. Lots of room and pretty tame greens.

Steeple Chase!! I haven’t been there in a few seasons but I really enjoy playing there

Looking to set a tee time in the burbs next Friday for either morning (8-9am) or afternoon (230-3pm). Need one more, looking keep the round to under $50 per person with cart.

If you have any recommendations on courses I’d be happy to hear it.

If anyone is interested in joining feel free to reach out! We’re new and high handicappers (16-30 HCP).

I’d add Foxford Hills to that list too in that area.

If you can wait until 3PM you’ll have better options at that price point. Cog Hill Ravines and Mt. Prospect should both be around $50 w/ cart after 3PM.

@jhusjr I just played Foxford yesterday afternoon and it was fantastic. Greens were a lil scruffy, but everything else was :100:.

Non golf related but I wanted to ask if anyone needs moving boxes. We just finished a move and we’re lucky enough to get all free moving boxes so I wanted to pass them along if possible.

Foxford is so damn good. The back 9 gets a little “interesting” but that course always seems to deliver an enjoyable round whenever I play there.

Oh yeah if @jhusjr is okay with driving away from the highway, definitely check out Foxford Hills. Pretty decent twilight rate and a really fun golf course.

Yes, lots of people throwing down recommendations here…unfortunately looks like there must be a league monday night…darn. Because yes, definitely no problem leaving the highway.

I live in North Barrington so I think I can help.

Chalet Hills is right next to Foxford, really neat/difficult design with decent green conditions and fairway bunkers that have been essentially abandoned by the grounds crew. I think its the most interesting course in the area that has cosmetic issues, along with Cary Country Club. If you’re looking for premier conditioning with demanding course setup I’d look at Stonewall Orchard or Makray, they both keep their greens in really good shape but sometimes charge a bit too much for greens fees in my opinion (I’d pick Stonewall over Makray and I cut greens for Makray last year ha!). Finally if you’re looking for a nice muni I’d consider Schaumburg GC, Randall Oaks, or (my personal favorite) Cary Country Club.

All of these courses are under 30 mins away and are generally close to major highway.

Thanks I appreciate that advice! I’ll definitely try scope the tee times where the late afternoon differential kicks in.

Yo – is warren golf course in south bend worth the drive for just 18?

cc: @BabblingBrooksKoepka @Wheel and any other domers out there

100% yes, especially this time of year when it’s running faster and some of the fescue starts to thin out.

K. I got one night solo in Chicago for my fantasy auction and Mrs Pargame and the boys won’t be back until afternoon Sunday. Think it’s do-able. Or, ya know, I could like do chores or something.

I worked at Warren from age 16-22 and got to play there for free, so I am wildly biased, but…

I’d unequivocally say yes and put my BBK reputation on it. Logistically, if you drive it at the right times it can be as little as 90 minutes away which is barely further than driving to some Chicago 'burbs. Golf-wise, it’s aesthetically pleasing, typically in great shape, and has a wide variety of holes that will have you using your entire bag. The par 3s specifically ask four different questions of four different clubs. Each of the par 5s vary dramatically in look and accessibility. It kind of plays in a series of 6-3-6-3 loops that almost feels like four different courses. Green complexes are challenging if you’re in the wrong spot but roll true and straight putts exist in the right spots.

Plus - golden dome views!
